The most “country” single on Speak Now, Mean picked up two Grammys for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance. From the banjo to the bluegrass sound, this song is one of the best on the album. It’s funny how something can be both childish and clever at the same time. I never thought that a song that’s punchline was “And all you’re ever gonna be is mean” would go anywhere, but Swift’s witty lyrics carry it home. This song is for the people who say she only writes about boys and fairytales, for everyone who slams her live performances and for anyone who calls her fake. In the end, Taylor is the clear winner, and all the haters are ever gonna be is mean.
