This was how I voted:
Movie of the Year
» “Bridesmaids”
» “The Hunger Games”
» “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
» “The Help”
» “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1”
That doesn’t require much explanation.
Best Male Performance
» Daniel Radcliffe, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
» Ryan Gosling, “Drive”
» Joseph Gordon-Levitt, “50/50”
» Josh Hutcherson, “The Hunger Games”
» Channing Tatum, “The Vow”
As amazing as I think Dan was as Harry, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely blew me away in 50/50. I thought he was absolutely incredible. I wouldn’t mind Daniel Radcliffe winning, but I think Joseph deserves it.
Best Female Performance
» Jennifer Lawrence, “The Hunger Games”
» Kristin Wiig, “Bridesmaids”
» Emma Stone, “Crazy, Stupid Love”
» Emma Watson, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
» Rooney Mara, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”
I know I said I’d vote Harry over Hunger for this…but Jen’s portrayal of Katniss was perfect. I’m trying to vote as unbiased as I can, now that I’m actually being given the opportunity to vote. Emma, Emma and Rooney were amazing, but I think Jen had a certain something.
Best Comedic Performance
» Melissa McCarthy, “Bridesmaids”
» Kristen Wiig, “Bridesmaids”
» Zach Galifianakis, “The Hangover Part II”
» Jonah Hill, “21 Jump Street”
» Oliver Cooper, “Project X”
It was so hard to chose between Zach and Jonah. But 21 Jump Street had me unable to breathe from laughing so hard while The Hangover II seemed like a redundant failure to satisfy its audience. Zach was much funnier in the first film. This performance felt recycled.
Breakthrough Performance
» Melissa McCarthy, “Bridesmaids”
» Rooney Mara, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”
» Liam Hemsworth, “The Hunger Games”
» Elle Fanning, “Super 8”
» Shailene Woodley, “The Descendants”
I’ve seen every one of these films except Bridesmaids (but I really want to) and Rooney, hands down, deserves this. Maybe with Elle as a second choice. Shailene was alright, but something about her performance bothered me. It felt unnatural. And Liam, although a good Gale, was kind of just there..since Gale had like 3 collective minutes of screen time throughout the whole film.
Best Cast
» “Bridesmaids”
» “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
» “The Hunger Games”
» “21 Jump Street”
» “The Help”
Every nominee deserves it. But Harry Potter has Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman…so…
Best On-Screen Transformation
» Elizabeth Banks, “The Hunger Games”
» Rooney Mara, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”
» Johnny Depp, “21 Jump Street”
» Michelle Williams, “My Week With Marilyn”
» Colin Farrell, “Horrible Bosses”
They all deserve it. But holy ****, does anyone even REMEMBER what Rooney Mara used to look like? Watch Nightmare on Elm Street (the remake) and just stare in shock as you process that this girl was also Lisbeth Salander. I just can’t.
Best Fight
» Daniel Radcliffe vs. Ralph Fiennes, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
» Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson vs. Alexander Ludwig, “The Hunger Games”
» Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill vs. Kid Gang, “21 Jump Street”
» Tom Hardy vs. Joel Edgerton, “Warrior”
» Tom Cruise vs. Michelle Nyqvist, “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol”
Yeah. I had to vote for both. The Voldemort fight was more anticipated…but the Hunger Games fight dsjghskjghsg. It was because of the score. That score was PERFECT. I voted more times for Harry Potter though. But I had to at least throw one in for Hunger Games.
Best Kiss
» Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, “Crazy, Stupid, Love”
» Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”
» Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, “The Hunger Games”
» Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, “The Vow”
» Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1”
Easily. We’ve waited ten years to see these two kiss. If they don’t win this award, I will lose all faith in humanity.
Best Gut-Wrenching Performance
» “Bridesmaids” (Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McClendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper)
» “The Help” (Bryce Dallas Howard)
» “21 Jump Street” (Jonah Hill and Rob Riggle)
» “Drive” (Ryan Gosling)
» “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol” (Tom Cruise)
I voted Tom Cruise because I was cringing the whole time…especially since I knew that it wasn’t special effect…Tom Cruise was literally scaling that ****ing building. sjdaskjdhgs
Best On-Screen Dirt Bag
» Bryce Dallas Howard, “The Help”
» Jon Hamm, “Bridesmaids”
» Jennifer Aniston, “Horrible Bosses”
» Colin Farrell, “Horrible Bosses”
» Oliver Cooper, “Project X”
Both from Horrible Bosses. Because holy ****ing ****.
Best Music
» “Party Rock Anthem,” LMFAO (“21 Jump Street”)
» “A Real Hero,” College with Electric Youth (“Drive”)
» “The Devil Is in the Details,” Chemical Brothers (“Hanna”)
» “Impossible,” Figurine (“Like Crazy”)
» “Pursuit of Happiness,” Kid Cudi (Steve Aoki remix) (“Project X”)
I actually am bummed that Abraham’s daughter by Arcade Fire didn’t get a nomination. But either way, I liked the Hanna song. lol
