Changes in Popfusion - IMPORTANT FOR ALL MEMBERS
ATRL has been around for many years. It quickly became one of the most popular and interesting forums that revolved around the MTV universe. As TRL declined and things changed, this forum did as well. You would be hard pressed to find a member who has been here for a year or more who would say that this forum has not deteriorated to some degree.
To that extent, I am making this thread. There will be adjustments to the rules of the Popfusion forum soon, but the input of all members is needed. I have provided the current terms of use below for reference and will update this post with the popular ideas of members as they come in. I will make the cutoff date two weeks from today, Sunday, October 22nd. At that point, the moderators and administrators will discuss the input from users and form a new set of rules that WILL BE ENFORCED STRICTLY. This includes warnings, temporary bans, and permanent bans.
This is very important to the future of this forum. We want to improve it and make it the best that it can be but we need your help. Once we get the rules in place, we will be able to enforce them and make Popfusion just as great as ATRL in it's prime.
---
SUGGESTED IDEAS
Ban on offensive attacks based on any of the following:
---race
---sex/gender
---sexual orientation
---age
---religion
---disability
NOTE: Members who feel offended by a statement should address it to a moderator or administrator.
Ban on MP3 posting (required - this one will remain)
Issue of bashing posters for whatever reason should be addressed
---
CURRENT TERMS OF USE
Popfusion visitors and members must follow the rules outlined in these Terms of Use:
General Responsibility
By using this site, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, inappropriate, sexually explicit, hateful, threatening to other members, or in violation of any laws. The ability to post messages at Popfusion is a privilege, not a right. Members who consistently abuse this privilege by ignoring these rules will be warned and/or banned from posting.
Unsolicited Advertising

Posting of Copyrighted Material
Threads and posts containing links to unlicensed downloads of copyrighted material, including but not limited to recorded music in MP3, WMA, OGG, and similar formats, are not allowed and will be deleted as soon as possible. It is also prohibited to discuss file sharing of copyrighted material or post offers to trade unlicensed files through other means. Any attempts to circumvent this rule in any way will not be tolerated, and members who consistently do so will be banned.

I think we should make racism a permanent bannable offense.
I think that the No Holds Barred should be the ONLY place to allow hateful fighting in any way shape or form.
And of course, as you mentioned, I think with the rules, they needed to be enforced. Some of this **** is getting crazy.

Homophobia and Racism need to be banable offenses. End of story. Even in No Holds Barred. There are some discusting individuals on here and they definatly shouldn't habe the privilage to post.
That being said, I think No Holds Barred needs to remain in the same form as a place for mature individuals to either work out their problems or fight mindlessly. To be honest, I don't see the problem with mindless fighting as long as both parties are consentual to it and it's restricted within No Holds Barred. There are definatly some things that cross the line, however (i.e. racism and homophobia), and rules against that content should be inforced even in No Holds Barred.

I was thinking of more last year, when I couldn't enter a Madonna thread without hearing "she should sit her old ass down."

Thank you for sticking up for me, Bart. Just because I'm 31 (WITH CHILDREN), that doesn't mean I'm not hip enough to post here.

Its going to be impossible to get the current generation members to shift to a strict environment, but I'm game.

The new rules should apply to EVERYONE because I know a lot of people who seem to be immune to PF's rules because they've been around since 2001.

"EVERYONE" = Includes Mods/admins/staff as well.
Also, if homophobia is going to be cited, you'll need to include hetrophobia as well. (Even if it is less common or not at all.)

I pretty much agree with everything that has been said in this thread. The only suggestion I have is that if someone finds something offensive, they should let a staff member know rather than automatically blaming mods/admins for being selective towards specific people and/or not doing their jobs. I don't know if that's a stupid suggestion but just thought I'd say it. I don't think I have any more suggestions because, as mentioned earlier, I pretty much agree. However, I do have a few questions.. how will the warnings work? Three warnings and they are banned? How about the temporary bans? Do those even work and what specifically deserves a temp. ban versus a permanent ban? I'm not clueless, I just am not entirely sure and wish to be re-informed unless it's too much trouble.

But it shouldn't be a bannable offense against Mike is he bashes other people, right Shade? In case you haven't noticed, he isn't a saint and no one here should get preferrential treatment, I think special treatment is what we're trying to avoid.

Why am I being brought into this? Of course i'm not a saint. If I was, I wouldn't even be here right now. Have you also noticed I have a mental disability? I'm not always right in the head, just to let you know.
