Marilyn Monroe "was jealous of Elizabeth Taylor's success"
Quote:
In an extract of Lawrence Schiller's soon-to-be-released memoir, 'Marilyn & Me', published by Vanity Fair, the dead star said she would be naked coming out of a swimming pool as part of a photo shoot.
The only condition of doing so however, was that Taylor would not appear anywhere in magazines where they featured.
According to Schiller, Monroe said: "Larry, if I do come out of the pool with nothing on, I want your guarantee that when your pictures appear on the covers of magazines Elizabeth Taylor is not anywhere in the same issue."
Monroe was apparently determined to prove her own worth to film bosses – in her last role in 'Something's Gotta Give', she was only paid $100,000, while Taylor got $1 million as 'Cleopatra'.
During her conversations with Schiller, between 1960 and 1962, when she died aged 36, she told him: "There isn't anybody that looks like me without clothes on".

Marilyn is more iconic, remembered and talked about now, anyway.

You could argue that's just because of her early death, though. One dying in his prime will always be remembered more.

There's no denying she was amazing, but there are/were SO many better actresses.

We are discussing acting skills, looks, impact?
We know Monroe had the impact bigger that Liz's and some argue that they are two of the most beautiful women to ever grace the screen, what about the talent?

Of course she was.
Liz was beautiful, respected amongst her peers, award winning actress & the first actress to earn ! million for a film.
Marilyn was only seen a 'dumb blonde, sex object' & there's no respect or dignity in that.

I find Marilyn to be brilliant.
People don't realize that Marilyn Monroe was a character.
One she played on-screen and to the press.
In her real life, she was intelligent and very different.
Also, proved to be a very brilliant comedic actress,
and great dramatic actress in the few roles that showed her ability.
She made 12 films from 1952-1961 and grossed 200 million dollars.
She was the biggest and most profitable star of her time. Male or Female.

Marilyn was a dumb blonde, sex object ?? Loool
Yet she influenced a huge number of Newbies after her death.
Nice to see that the "dumb blonde" have been copied by the biggest stars in the world (including Actresses and Singers)

“I could tell you all about rejection,” Marilyn said to Schiller. “Sometimes I feel my whole life has been one big rejection.” “But look at you now,” he said. “Exactly,” she replied. “Look at me now.” Confused, Schiller protested, “You’re a star! Your face is on magazine covers all over the world! Everyone knows Marilyn Monroe!” “Let me ask you, Larry Wolf [Schiller first introduced himself to Monroe as the Big Bad Wolf]—how many Academy Award nominations do I have?” “I don’t know,” he said. “I do,” she said. “None.”
Poor Marilyn.

She was anything but dumb and some singers seem to have a different opinion as you.

This is so tacky.
I mean, both of them are resting in peace and people are building up wars for this oh-so-current-news.

At the time of Marilyn's death she was no longer considered top dog in Hollywood and her train wreck of a life meant many within the industry were getting fed up of her and she wasn't able to make as many films as she did at her peak. The public were moving on and the studios were already looking for someone to replace her as the top blonde.
At then end of Marilyn's life she was a bit like Britney is now, overshadowed by some of her peers but still held in high regard because of their past achievements.
