This week, Tiziano's "La Differenza Tra Me E Te" breaks the record for most consecutive weeks at #1. Utada Hikaru's "Passion" managed a run of 29 weeks before her own song "Blue" took over. Later, "Passion" added one more week to its run for a grand total of 30, and so this week Tiziano also ties the record for most weeks at #1. He is poised to break it next week, as the song is still by far my favorite at the moment.
This #1 run is hilariously awesome. I imagine that, if I had done a weekly c/d like this one in 2006, "Starlight" would have been #1 for more than half of the year as well.
I never thought Utada's epic record would be broken but it actually didn't take that long. "La Differenza Tra Me E Te" has been my anthem since mid-October, every week it's still my most played song, racking up almost 3,000 plays since I first heard it. No idea how many more weeks he will stay there... this week he's showing the first signs of weakness!
But I'm flying to Italy in a few days to see him in concert, so that will probably erase said weakness.
