Where is CA? Oh, how convenient.
Fixed.

I'm aware of what you said and I said not only is it below 1.7, it's below 500k. Talking about "stronger hasn't gone platinum" when Bionic struggles to go HALF of gold in the US.
and I didn't count CA because it was released at the industries sales peak. but even if you count it's sales post-2000, Kelly still sold more.
15. Kelly Clarkson: 18.800.000 albums sold (estimated)
20. Christina Aguilera: 18.000.000 albums sold (estimated)

that's album sales only. Go ahead and count single sales and the gap will be even more obvious. I'll even let you count Christina's singles from her debut album. still won't be close. And radio airplay? Kelly's also ahead of her in that.
No matter how you want to look at it, Kelly is the bigger star at this moment in time. She's had more consistent success. And it's pretty easy to assume that if she had released in the late 90s/very early 00s, she'd have sold just as well as Christina's debut. She may not get all the hype Christina gets or hot air blown up her ass, but she's definitely more successful, a bigger star and more talented.
