Michelle Williams, former member of Destiny's Child and Broadway Star, has graciously offered to perform for the benefit of Lance Corporal Adrian Simone.
The fundraiser is taking place at 7:30 PM on Friday, May 18, 2012 in Montville Township High School (100 Horseneck Road, Montville, NJ 07045).
New Jersey break-out star, Zach Matari, will open the concert along with Montville's incredible young talent; singer and high school junior, Salena Wilson, singer/songwriter and Emerson College student, Micah Schure, singer and Marymount undergrad, Bianca Monica, singer/songwriter and high school senior, Jared Dylan and alternative pop band, Valhalla. New York native, singer/songwriter Neil Davis, a frequent visitor to Montville, has just joined the line-up to honor Adrian Simone.
In August 2011 Adrian Simone, a 2010 graduate of Montville Township High School was stationed in Afghanistan and took the brunt of an explosion from an Improvised Explosion Device (IED).
He suffered other injuries, but none as serious as those to his legs, his mother, Landi Simone, said. At first, doctors removed his left foot and right leg below the knee, but later amputated both legs at the knee.
Adrian, a 19-year old Lance Corporal who joined the Marines after graduating from high school, was recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethseda, Md. He has since rejoined his unit at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, NC.
While visiting family in Montville, Michelle Williams became aware of Adrian's story of bravery and offered to help the local war hero.
The concert will raise funds for The Adrian Simone Foundation, which will go towards Adrian’s rehabilitation and accommodations at the Simone home. Landi Simone said she is confident her son will walk again with prostheses—even, someday, up Mount Washington in New Hampshire, an annual hike for the family.
