Unlike like Lana Del Rey, The Neighbourhood proves to strike the audience within first two songs on YouTube. The video for their first single "Sweater Weather" has been viewed by over 130 thousand people in incredibly short period of four weeks. The Neighbourhood lull with haunting melodies, vintage image and those dreamy vocals.
Their earlier release, "Female Robbery", has had over 30 thousand views since January. And that's just the beginning with the amount of attention this L.A. group has been receiving lately; being called "L.A.'s wooziest buzz band" by Nylon Magazine or featured as one of ‘20 New Bands to Watch Out For’ by Complex Mag is merely a first step in their career. Also, number of fans on Facebook and Twitter keep rising as you read this.
With soft and beguile melodies you instantly get hooked by their songs. And that they have only two of them released so far makes you intrigued and hungry for more. As for the videos, both of them have been created within the latest trend of, influenced by the silent movie The Artist, short, black and white stories.
The Neighbourhood don't slap you into attention with their music; they try to seduce you with the melodic sunshine and memorable lines. However I'm sure there is going to be much more supreme tunes to come as their true potential hasn't been revealed yet.
From Complex (One of their 20 New Bands to Look Out For):
Good to know, you posted their lead single a few weeks ago. I like EPs. I feel less lazy to give them a try.
Haha it's a great way to get a feel for a new band. I feel like their single could be something major. It already has over 100,000 views in less than a month.
New song played on Zane Lowe's radio show tonight. The song is available to stream in the UK, but for those in other parts of the world, you'll have to wait.
One of my friends posted Sweater Weather on facebook awhile back, I had no clue that they had another song out
This EP is going to be solid, I love all of their material so far. Oh and heres a link to Wires:
