Probably some ****tard commiting suicide. It doesn't look like its that serious, but its all over the news just because, well its obvious why. (Plane crashing into a building in NYC..)
Word just coming in that plane that flew into the Upper East Side apartment building earlier today was registered and was being flown by NY Yankee pitcher Corey Lidle, who is now confirmed dead.
But, wait a minute... I just saw that Lidle had less than 400 hours expirience in air. He shouldn't have flown the airplane that low in the first place!
I concur with Mike, there's absolutely no reason to be bashing the Yankees right now. It just makes you look so tactless.
As for the actual story, it wasn't a terrorist attack in any way shape or form. It appears that Cory Lidle and his flight instructor were on Cory's plane and, apparently, the aircraft lost control. I've heard some people act like complete assholes and blame Cory for this, but rumor has it that Cory was actually trying to pull AWAY from the building and hit a river nearby, so as to not harm anyone else. It's just too soon to blame anybody.
My condolences to the Lidle family and to the families of the others who lost their lives in this tragedy.
What about the people in the Bel Air tower? Was anyone (or anything) injured or worse?
Rest in peace, Cory Lidle. It's truly a shame that he died and that someone is actually bringing up their Yankees hate at the most inappropriate time. I'm not too fond of them either, but COME ON.
I question why a plane was allowed to be that close to a building after the events of 9/11. I thought NYC would've had some set of restrictions/limitations about that by now. Even though this was in no way a terrorist attack, the Department of Homeland Security also should've had something implemented for all US cities regarding flying zones near buildings such as the Bel Air Tower.
But no matter what, best of life to those affected by this event, and RIP to all the victims who passed on from this tragedy.
