Couldn't you say the same for the US?
Isn't "Weird Al Yankovic" set to hit the Billboard Hot Top 10 next week with his "parody"?
As for Nelly she did well to make 5 weeks top 10 and Jamelia's return just wasn't all THAT. Ev were obviously going to drop with the release of the album....

Fair enough, JSW99.
There's no excuse for Weird Al Yankovic.....LMAO
But David Hasselhoff? You can't back that up, ever.

Personally I HATE "Jump In My Car" its very corny but it's success is undoubtedly down typical British humour. It'll slip heavily next week I'd have thought. At least it never hit #1.
UK people aren't weird?

The Killers rocket to number one
08 October 2006 - 19:15:42
The Killers took 32 weeks to reach number one with their debut album Hot Fuss but the Las Vegas band’s follow-up Sam’s Town makes a spectacular debut at number one, after scorching to a first week sale of 268,946, writes Alan Jones.
That’s the third highest tally for a number one album this year, behind The Arctic Monkeys’ Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not and The Scissor Sisters Ta-Dah, which had first week sales of 363,735 and 288,167, respectively.
Sam’s Town arrival drew some heat from sales of Hot Fuss, which had climbed for seven weeks in a row, but dipped 14.7% to 13,005 last week, causing the album to slip 17-20. Its cumulative sales are 1,475,596.
Sam’s Town helped steer overall album sales to 2,934,180, their highest level for 16 weeks, their fourth highest level of the year, and 8.4% above the same week last year to provide an excellent start to the fourth and final quarter of trading for 2006.
Ongoing clearance sales at HMV and Virgin, and a 20% reduction on marked prices at Sainsbury’s, reducing many chart albums to less than £8, also helped.
A week after introductory single Call Me When You’re Sober reached number four, Evanescence’s long-awaited second album, The Open Door, debuts at number two on sales of 94,409. Although that means it hasn’t yet matched the peak of their debut album Fallen, which reached number one in June 2003 on its eighth week on release, it has comprehensively beaten that album’s number 18 debut on sales of 15,589. Fallen rockets 79-35 this week to make its first Top 40 placing for 134 weeks, with sales of 7,052 lifting its total to 1,154,571.
While The Scissor Sisters enjoy their best ever week in the US, where I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ jumps 186-67 on the download chart, and second album Ta-Dah debuts at number 19, both records step down from the top of the charts here. I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ was top for four weeks and is still doing well, adding another 27,180 sales to take its total to 248,664 as it dips to number two, while Ta-Dah, number one for a fortnight, falls to three on sales of 90,157, taking its 20 day total to 513,431.
The all-American (The Killers, Evanescence, Scissor Sisters) top three is the strongest of the year in sales terms; in 23 of 39 prior chart weeks in 2006, the Scissor Sisters’ Ta-Dah would have ranked number one. The previous best sales for a number three album this year came 27 weeks ago, when Corinne Bailey Rae’s self-titled album sold 78,842 copies.
The third and final new entry to the Top 10 this week comes from the most prolific chartmaker of the 21st century, MOR/country crooner Daniel O’Donnell, who chalks up his ninth Top 20 album and seventh Top 10 album since 2000 with Until The Next Time. It debuts at number 10 on sales of 21,631, just eight months after From Daniel With Love, debuted at number five on sales of 24,708. 44 year old Irishman O’Donnell has had 22 Top 40 albums and 26 Top 75 albums including at least one every year since 1988, something no other artist can match.
The Aussie rockers named after a song by Paul McCartney & Wings, Jet, debut at number 13 this week on sales of 20,686 for their second album, Shine On. The album thus eclipses its predecessor Get Born’s number 14 peak, even though Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is - the first single from Shine On - peaked at number 23 last month. Despite its modest peak, Get Born has sold 404,826 copies to date, setting a tough target for Shine On to aim for.
Further down the chart, there’s a number 27 debut for Marti Pellow’s Moonlight Over Memphis (9,974 sales), easily beating the number 66 peak of the former Wet Wet Wet singer’s 2003 album Between The Covers; and a number 32 debut for KT Tunstall’s Acoustic Extravaganza (8,266). Both are more highly charted in their home country of Scotland, where Pellow is number 15, and Tunstall number 22.
Sarah Brightman has dared to call her new ‘best of’ compilation Classics, even though it doesn’t include her introductory hit I Lost My heart To A Starship Trooper. She is rewarded with a number 38 debut on sales of 6,165,. The album also knocks Katherine Jenkins’ Living A Dream off the top off the classical chart.
Wolverhampton-born singer/songwriter Scott Matthews’ first single Elusive is getting plenty of airplay, and prompt a belated debut for his relaunched album Passing Stranger, which had sold 7,107 copies since its release in April and adds another 5,796 as it debuts at number 45.
Diana Ross’s 54th chart album, I Love You, makes a quiet debut at number 60 on sales of 4,192. The album includes covers of classic songs like The Look Of Love (Bacharach/David) and I Will (Lennon/McCartney).
Number one in America, Ludacris' Release Therapy found 3,575 buyers last week to earn a less distinguished number 69 debut. Its sales are heavily skewed towards the capital, where it ranks a full 20 places higher.
We should note a 255.1% increase in sales of Lionel Richie’s latest album, Coming Home, which debuted low, at number 59, last week but now rockets to number 15 on sales of 17,696, driven by multiple TV appearances from Richie, of which the most effective in generating sales would likely have been an appearance on Parkinson.
While artist albums flourish, compilations are still sagging, despite the efforts on Disney’s High School, which contributed 50,436 sales to the sector’s 426,903 total. Overall, compilations accounted for just 14.69% of album sales last week, the first time they have dipped below 15% since Millward Brown started compiling OCC data in 1994.
Although sales of the number one single were a modest 32,753 last week, the singles sector improved 9% week-on-week to 1,291,718 sales, and was a healthy 28.1% up on the same week in 2005. However, Sugababes’ Push The Button, which was number one that week, sold 64,489 copies - nearly twice as many as America did last week.
Denied a number one with Somewhere Else by Tony Christie’s (Is This The Way To) Amarillo in March 2005, Razorlight finally make it to the summit with America. The second single from their self-titled second album, jumps 15-1 this week on sales, as noted above, of 32,753. The album, which debuted at number one in July, dips 3-4 this week, even though its sales increase for the fourth week in a row, expanding 11.5% to 43,355, to bring its 12 week total to 447,939. The Anglo-Swedish band’s 2004 debut Up All Night has sold 836,930 copies to date.
David Hasselhoff is number one...in the movie charts with Click - but the campaign to "get Hoff a number one single" which has secured more than 40,000 members on the internet has failed to deliver, with the 54 year old actor instead having to settle for a still impressive number three debut for Jump In My Car (a cover of a 1975 Australian number one by Ted Mulry) on sales of 26,620. It’s Hasselhoff’s first UK single since 1993, when his only previous hit If I Could Only Say Goodbye reached number 35.
Chasing his third number one single in a row, P. Diddy jumps 30-4 with Come To Me, his collaboration with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, on sales of 22,995. The first single from Diddy’s new album Press Play (out next Monday), Come To Me can’t match 2004’s I Don’t Wanna Know or this year’s Nasty Girl, both chart-toppers on which he was a secondary performer with Mario Winans & Enya, and Notorious B.I.G., respectively. The last single on which he was primary artist, Show Me Your Soul, reached number 35 in 2004.
Bob Sinclar lands his third straight Top 15 hit from current album Western Dream, as Rock This Party jumps 21-5 on sales of 20,472.
The album is also home to Love Generation (number 12) and World Hold On (number nine) but remains stubbornly absent from the Top 75 after 17 weeks on release. The album briefly reached number 107 in July, but has since dipped out of the Top 200, although it has sold 10,540 copies so far. All is not lost, however, as it will be issued in a new version in a fortnight.
Finally, it’s a good week for Vertigo Records. Established in 1969 as a progressive rock imprint, Vertigo only had to wait until 1971 to have a simultaneous number one single and album, thanks to Rod Stewart. This week, for the first time, they have the number one single and album with different acts, thanks to Razorlight and The Killers.

If by domination, you mean about 50-75k, then yeah.
But if not, then the Killers are going to annihilate / drop an atomic bomb on Evanescence globally, especially when you beat them 3:1 in UK sales.
But anyway, great showings for the both of them! Especially 'Sams Town', what impressive first week figures.
Rather dissapointing for Jet.
