Oh yes I know, that's probably the most important thing. But how many pop artists have those traits? So pop acts have to work twice as hard. First of all, it's hard for them to be taken seriously because of the genre of music that they started in. The only way they can do that is if they stray from regular pop music. But anyway none of them are guaranteed to stay popular no matter how popular they are now. They have to work hard. In Madonna's case that's exactly what she did. She didn't have the best voice but she worked with what she had. I can't stand her but I have to give her that. The fact that she continuously evolved gained her a lot of respect and made her what she is today. I don't think that the singers who are in the position that she was was in will have the ability to do what she did to stay in the business. & the good thing about Christina she doesn't necessarily have to stick to mainstream pop music. Which will help her. She knows how to change her look and sound. She'll still be classified as pop but the music isnt necessarily pop i.e. John Mayer. Pop music is usually tied with image, once that is lost what's left to do? Madonna found things, I'm not sure if Britney will. I don't even dislike the girl but I've always felt that people who can't sing don't last that long. The majority of singers who didn't sing well did not last. They may have kept up a celebrity image, (Paula Abdul's case), but their music did not last. Janet lasted but look how much trouble she's been having? Her singing skills or lack thereof all of a sudden bother people. I don't remember it ever being a problem before when she had her image. I still love Janet though, lol. She hasn't had the great material she had from when she was younger. Whitney was extremely popular and successful, she was self-destructive and look at her now. But this can happen to the younger pop artists. & since they aren't from the first batch Michael, Prince, Madonna, Janet, etc. they can lose their popularity easier.
