Man (in Florida) going to jail for 5 years for drinking pop
instead of water, at McDonalds.
http://iwidk.com/2012/04/24/man-migh...-at-mcdonalds/
But isn't this the state that let Zimmerman go?! Damn, I'm never going to Florida. Killer's can get away with murder, but if you get Sprite, you go to jail!
Someone start a petition cause I'm sure we are all guilty of this. I should go to jail then.

Don't employee's get free POP when they work at Fast Food?! Isn't that technically stealing too?

You're misrepresenting what happened. The man stole from the McDonald's and refused to leave when asked. He faces up to 5 years, which he won't get; they're just throwing the book at him, which is pretty common.
And no, Zimmerman's case has not been decided on as of yet.

Yeah I know that, it says "he might be charged with."
And no, he didn't steal. Don't employee's get free pop for working? I know employee's at my job that take a few medium sized drinks for free. Isn't that stealing too? Or does your job pay for how much pop is missing and assume it's employee's drinking it??
I think there is something missing from this article that they aren't saying. Maybe this guy does this ALL the time?? If it happened just once, then there is something messed up with this world.
Oh and btw, the Zimmeran case is only getting recognition because of America's outcry. A month ago, they were doing nothing about it. But because America got outraged, the justice system decided to look into it and make a case about it. Otherwise it was just a case that would've went unknown.

Why not? Tap water is usually free everywhere you go, yet you are giving out a free "cup" that does cost some sort of money, in the long run.
I get this all the time at my work, and I just hand them over a free cup. We probably waste over 20 small cups (a sleeve) everyday by doing this and times that by 7 days, that's a whole case!!!
It's like who pays for these missing cups? That might be the reason why our prices are so much.
A 22 oz is like $1.79 here at work, while you can get pop so much cheaper at a gas station.

Yes, he did steal. There's a difference between employees getting benefits for working at a place and a costumer taking something for free that he should have to pay for. He is not an employee there. He was told not to take soda. He did, so he was stealing. He was told to leave. He refused, so he was trespassing and acting disorderly. He was charged with a felony because he had stolen before (what is not specified). It's literally that simple, and this doesn't deserve a thread.

Um, when you are employed and have the permission to have drinks that is not stealing, I mean, what planet are you living on?
And having a drink you do not pay for when it is not for free is stealing.
Obviously that alone won't get you 5 years.
And by bringing the Zimmerman case into play you just seem desperate for attention cause without it this thread would be one embarassing mess.

Wait are you kidding me? Stealing is stealing. Benefits from work is one thing, but not when you abuse the privlege. I've seen employee's drink pop while at work and then when they get off, they take the biggest XL cup we have and fill it up with mountain dew.
Who pays for it? Nothing is free, so I don't know where you are getting this, so it's ok if employee's get free pop, but not customers right? Because in the end, someone's going to pay for the "missing" pop whether it's from the benefited employees or not.
And by all means, I'm sure work pays a SMALL chunk of the missing pop (assuming it's for employees) which means you should drink pop when you are thirsty, not take gallons worth when your shift ends (which IS stealing, don't even start). I worked at Fast Food for 8 years, I'm not an idiot. Do you know how much a case of pop is? It's like $40. We have like 30 cases of pop in our store, figure out the math.
And the Zimmerman case was thrown in here because Florida is messed up. You are going to stick up for this case and allow him to be judged for something so stupid, while this killer is going to go free, which probably would've went without a trial if it wasn't for the the media's outcry.
Killing someone in cold blood is not the same as taking a small 16 oz of pop for "free." But if you want to think that way, then maybe you should go move to Florida and join the justice team, because this is fully messed up and I'm sure America would agree.

Yes yes yes yes yes.................
I read the article, but how does a case like this even remotely get attention while they would've done nothing about the Zimmerman case?
I swear, you guys don't look at the whole pic here, you are just looking at the title of the thread here and that's it.
My point of this thread, regardless if he gets charged in the end or not, is that they are "booking" him of these charges for something so stupid, while they would've done NOTHING about the Zimmerman case. Look beyond the picture guys, it helps. Gawd. Read between the lines.

Every crime needs attention. Shall we go and let everybody steal stuff because there are worse things happening?
Who tells you they would not have done anything about the Zimmerman case? Do you know what really happened there? I mean, you think you know the truth but you know nothing.
And what you do - pitting the death of a person against theft of a drink - is disrispectful and stupid.
You just want buzz and people to complain and be all shocked and riled up.
There is no "whole pic" - you are just constructing a link between two very different stories, which are both not finished either way.
