It will happen BUT he will have to relate to the masses so his songs will probably be sexually ambiguous meaning a guy or girl can relate to it.

This. Like, these people who think orientation has nothing to do with it are delusional.

Star power goes past just music unfortunately. If you cant connect to straight females and/or straight males, why should someone put a bunch of money into pushing you.

If anything, it would have to be someone who didn't come out until they peaked.

I don't think the lack of success from male artists has anything to do with sexuality. It's more to do with the fact that no male artist at the moment is pushing the boundaries or captivating audiences like the females are or have done in the past. Males are just playing it safe with boring R&B/dance-pop hybrid tracks. There has to be a guy someone out there who is somewhat of a risk-taker when it comes to performances, sound and image who gets discovered and signs a record deal. I think within the next few years we will witness this happening. Whether they are gay, straight or bi, I can totally see someone like this coming onto the scene. There has to be a male who can compete on the same level as the pop girls.

There's a long line of gay men who had to establish themselves under the assumption that they were heterosexual before they felt comfortable coming out publicly...Elton, George Michael, Ricky Martin, Lance Bass...

It would take a gay male artist who is openly gay
And has enough talent/confidence/full support to compete and put out material equal
To his heterosexual counterparts.
And unfortunately, I don't see that happening anytime soon. .

Neither have any of his other label mates (Colby O'Donis, Kardinal Offishall) so your point isn't made. He's just on a ****** label.

But as we all know, mainstream media was more homophobic during each of those artist's times than it is now. A perfect example is Adam Lambert who would most likely have to cover up his sexuality back when Elton and Ricky Martin were relevant. However, he openly announced his sexuality and scored a Top 10 hit. He's just struggling now because his music doesn't stick out from his fellow male peers.

Bieber's success is purely fueled by the support of one particular demographic. Bruno has sales and chart success, but that is all the general public will look to him for. He doesn't challenge the conventional norm or push the standards unlike some of the pop girls have done.

But many pop female acts don't push the envelope at all and they still smash. You guys are too quick to focus on the females that are changing the game that you ignore the many that don't and still succeed. All it takes right now for a girl is to sport a wig, sing a catchy tune, look hot, wear a good bra, learn a few generic dance moves, tons of autotune and she's done. Not to say that there are not some quality female pop artists out there, cause there are a bunch.
