I get that most actors aren't even this good. And I suppose he's my age so he has a hell of a lot to learn; I cut him a bit of slack. I just think we should've waited like ten years before giving him this award for starting a questionable organization. And I know I'll get flamed for this. Don't care.

Some straight people really do need the extra encouragement to publicly support the LGBT community. It maybe
shouldn't be that way, but it is. People who support gay rights are often called gay. I mean, just look in this thread. I think it's great that he and his straight friends were so confused and frustrated with the discourse that they decided to do something to change it.
Now, you can disagree with giving him the award so early. I might be convinced on that front, especially when people like Lady Gaga have never won it, and she's done considerably more than he has to promote gay rights. But if you look at other recent winners -- Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston -- the award doesn't make all that much sense anyway.
So instead of being concerned about "privilege," let's applaud the kid (kid!) for trying his damnedest to do something to change the world. He may not have reached his fullest potential yet, but he's approaching the issue from a new side and doing
something.

See now... this is exactly why a lot of straight guys are afraid to voice their support of the gay community, because people will assume they're gay.
