Will good pop/dance music come back?
Seriously...all we get now is hips, sexybacks, (add whatever u want) girl, ___licious, etc... Most of them are covers or have samples of some good pop song and 94% of them talk about sex and being nasty.
We still get good pop songs but they don't become big ,they aren't heard.
Anyone miss the..... All that she wants, Rhythm Nation, Ray of light, Believe, Together again, Frozen, I get so lonely, You are not alone, My heart will go on, I will always love you, Baby one more time, Spending my time, That's the way love goes, Because you loved me, etc...
Seriously...the gold days of pop are gone (duh) and i'm missing them...
Do you think it will ever come back?
This is a bad decade for pop.

I think that country music has taken over the music industry. The boy bands have all gone into extinct. I think that pop music is for the most part over. Rock and Rap music is dead too. A person can have a hit pop song but it won't sell their albums in the long run or in the first place for that matter.

Pop/Hip Hop/R&B/Rap Genres are starting to die because it's too easy to get in. Producers now do all the work(Make the music, usually write the lyrics) and Pretty faces(sometimes with a good voice) rush in to play the puppet. Kids think older folks don't listen to their music because they are not "hip" enough, but really it's because most of the older generation can see through the BS
Indie & Underground music will always hold more longtime quality over the major record companies.

Indie and underground music is UNDISCOVERED and UNSIGNED. Many respectable artists have been put into the mainstream and STILL kept their good image. Your argument is all over the place.

You're talking about a naturally good band/artist that come from making their way rags to riches style. I'm talking about the manufactured "artists" that come out of the woodwork every hour.
Undiscovered is inaccurate because there are a lot of talent that would rather remain Indie even after the offers roll in. Freedom to write what you want, when you want to and why you want to is very important to some, and the main reason why they would decline. Another thing about Indie is you don't always have to look like a supermodel to get a crowd.

Good music is good music, whether someone's grandma wrote it or you wrote it yourself. If you can identify with the song, it's even the more better. Manufactured or self made, it's still reaching out somehow. Gal, sit down tryin' to determine what's good and not good.

*shakes head*
Seriously, get off the whole "rock is dead" theory. It's not.
As for the actual topic, well, good pop music is in the eye of the beholder. To some, good pop music is not only here, it's thriving. Same with rock, rap, etc.

^Pretty much anything that isn't country is dead right now. That's seems to be the only genre of music that is selling large numbers. There might be a few exceptions in the pop, rock, and rap categories but as a whole they aren't selling like country is. Country is selling like what pop was doing 5 years ago. It is consistent while the music acts in other fields are struggling.

Woah wut? The only thing in right now is rap/hip-hop and emo rock. Country is only always stable.

Depends on what kind of pop you're talking about. Pop nowadays is something totally different than what it used to be, a lot of the pop today has some urban influences mixed into it like SexyBack, Aint No Other Man, Buttons and pretty much half the billboard chart is like that. What i miss is the feel good pure pop that was the one of the main genres of the 90s but I dont think that pure pop like that will ever come back because its proved to not be a big success. Madonna's latest album was disco ish and it only did medicre at best & A Public Affair was one of the most camp songs of the year and it only did so-so on the charts. Paris's new single is pure pop sounding as well but i'm sure that will underperform as well.

There are so many country albums all over the Billboard chart it's ridiculous. It's selling. Don't know why but it is. Rascall Flatts, Dixie Chicks, etc. are all selling. & Carrie Underwood is showing signs of stability. It's def. what's hot right now.

When it comes to radio, ALL formats have suffered. Whether it is because the format is taking itself too seriously (Rock) or not serious enough (Urban, Country, Hit). But I think Adult Contemporary, Hit (well Pop, Rythmic is dead to me), and even Rock (Alternative, really) have had a good year.
The current state of Urban radio depresses me. It has sufferred more than any other format. It's a format that I've gone to almost all my life and all that I can stand to listen to is Urban AC now. It was bound to happen one day, the demise of the format. Ever since gangster rap was introduced, YEARS AGO. Not only was the format affected, those who listened became tainted.
