Sorry but her music IS boring and easy, the lyrics and production are the biggest prove. Like I said, you're a free to like the song, sing along and have it on your iPod, but you can't claim more than that about it.

Nevermind, I was trying to have a discussion with you but you clearly just care about making ridiculous statements and not backing them up. have fun with your "quality music".

Exactly. Critics know what they're talking about, there's a standard of quality and we should respect it or at least acknowledge it.

She spoke her mind, and I happen to agree. That BEP song is dreadful, as is Call Me Maybe. Though didn't she diss Gaga at one point? Oh well, she's pretty much right.

You should ask her what she thinks about Rihanna on Twitter. I'd love to see what she would say.

and why do critics have different view on things? because just like us, they have different taste too. just like us, we will not like everything together. therefore music is subjective.

Don't tell people how to listen to music. I'll claim it's better than anything The Beatles have ever done if I want to and you are nobody to tell me I'm factually wrong.

You're free to say the sky is red if you want, but you'll be wrong. Subjectivity and freedom of speech won't automatically give you the power of truth.

At you respecting critic's opinions above your own.
What about the critic who called it a "perfect pop song" then? I guess now you have to love it?
Music is subjective and nobody's opinion is above anybody else's and the sooner you realise this the better off you'll be.

I do understand where she's coming from, but specifically mentioning Call Me Maybe is a bit of a douchebaggy thing to do. And besides, the public decides what it wants to hear through requests and iTunes. Just because she doesn't like it, doesn't mean she has to talk **** about it. It makes her look like she thinks she's better than those artists.

A critic called the song that, just ONE. If the majority of them had said the same thing, then I would acknowledge their opinion but have a different one. But the majority of critics will say that CMM is a generic and boring pop song, just like majority of critics praised and gave La Roux album and songs amazing reviews. When I say her album is good and CMM sucks, that MY opinion and I have the critics to back up my claims.

Not really, the only catchy parts are the Before you came into my life... the rest gets mixed between dreadful and boring. But it's about opinion, I guess.

Your argument has so many obvious flaws and contradictions that I can barely fathom you're actually trying to argue this. I would ask you to provide evidence that critics think it's a generic and boring pop song (you won't find much of it), but unlike you my views on music are not controlled by what other people tell me is good or bad. That you don't see the hypocrisy of this:

And the fact that you are telling us that critics declare the good music and consequently you follow them. Very worrying.

Elly isnt lying.
Call Me Maybe is atrocious and makes my ears hurt. It's songs like those that make any one believe they can sing and be a star.

Ok then, you go listen to the music business machine and I'll go listen to the critics. Everyone's happy, carry on.
