A lot of people think Gaga tried making BTW a "gay anthem" all because she added "gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life" to the lyrics of the song.
It's really actually just an anthem about loving yourself. Nothing else.
Good God no. She could've just used the phrase "born this way" and the message would've been more effective and powerful than what she ended up doing, which was just basically shouting GAY GAY GAY GAY THIS IS FOR YOU GAYS HI THIS SONG IS A GAY ANTHEM AND IT'S FOR YOU GAY GAYS. It's too obvious, heavy-handed and patronising. Certainly not MY anthem as a gay person.
It has nice lyrics (and some cringe worthy lines), but the song itself is not .
The song is an anthem.

Sweetheart, there is literally only ONE lyric that uses the word "gay".
