Kelly Preston still breastfeeding 16-month-old son
Quote:
Kelly Preston has said that she loves the bonding experience of breastfeeding her 16-month-old son Benjamin.
The actress and husband John Travolta welcomed the baby boy in November 2010 in what was described as a "silent, gentle birth".
Preston confessed in an interview with People that she is not looking forward to weaning Benjamin when the time comes.
"When I stop, it's going to be really hard on me. I love nursing so much. I love the closeness and knowing that I'm giving him the best as far as nutrients and antibodies," she explained.
"And he really loves it, too. He'll come up and point and go, 'Mama, more'. It's so cute!"
Preston shed 39lb after giving birth, but admitted that she had worried whether or not she would be able to slim down.
Is it normal to still be breastfeeding kids at 16 months old? (I really don't know the answer)
I think I heard breastmilk production could last about 6 months after birth so it's definitely longer than the standard but I could see why she wanted to continue it as breastfeeding promotes bonding with the mother at such an early age.
