Thinking About You is a soulful and sexy RnB track that kinda reminds me of Usher's Burn and CB's Say Goodbye but not as commercially appealing.
Swim Good is a nice song and for those into Soul, this song might get you into head bopping. The instrumental at the beginning is promising but the hook doesn't deliver.
Songs For Women failed to deliver something fresh. With basic lyrics and no powerhouse hook, this song is just created for his followers.
Thinking About You:
I first heard the Bridget Kelly's version, I love that song, even if he have a great voice, it's still better with a female voice.
Swim Good:
That's my jam. I can listen that song all day long without have any sign of rejection of it. It's like a drug, the more I listen to it, the more I like it.
Song For Women:
I like the last song, but not that much, maybe after a few time it will grow on me...
In general, I think that Frank Ocean will be a force to be reckoned with. It's clear that he can write excellent hooks for other rappers, his mixtape already had him working with some big name producers (you don't just get Chris Martin easily, you have to be good), and other than Tyler, The Creator, he's the only recognizable name from Odd Future. I see a very bright future for him, but that'll depend on how his studio album does (and based on the way that the label handled his mixtape, it isn't looking super optimistic)
As for song reviews.
Thinking of You seems to be a step in the wrong direction, I don't like it as much as I enjoyed his mixtape tracks. Oh well.
Swim Good and Songs for Women are actually two of my least favorite tracks on Nostalgia, Ultra. Whomever sent this in picked some stinkers, I find them a bit derivative and dull.
Listen to Novacane, Strawberry Swing, Nature Feels, and Lovecrimes.
Frank Ocean has me pleasantly surprised. Male R&B singers usually bore me, and listening to the first lines of "Thinking Of You" I thought it was more of the same. But then the track actually became very very good and interesting. The other two songs I just listened to impressed me the same way. He sounds a little bit like Drake sometimes but he seems way more versatile and his music way more experimental. I'm definitely going to check out his album.
Thinking Of You:
As I said, it starts off pretty lame but that chorus is heaven. "Or do you not think so far aheeead... cause I've been thinking about forever", it's already stuck in my mind. Very smooth, relaxing, beautiful.
Swim Good:
This is very different, I enjoyed it a lot. The video is really cool as well. The song gets better as it goes on.
Songs For Women:
Not as good as the other two, it's a bit more generic, not as interesting. But I enjoy it as background music, very smooth.
"Thinking About You"
The start had me worried on how the rest of the song would be, but the falsetto chorus completely saves the song, and makes it enjoyable. The production during the chorus is nice, too. Very relaxed. The bridge is awesome. Overall, it's a pretty good song.
"Swim Good"
Wow. This song is brilliant. I really love it. Not sure what else to say, really. Everything from the vocals to the beat are amazing. The video is also nice. Again, this song has a relaxed vibe, but it's more intense than "Thinking About You".
"Songs For Women"
I like something about this track, but I'm not quite sure what it is. I'm also bothered by something in this track but I can't pinpoint what exactly. I think it's the production I enjoy. I'm surprised at how much his voice sounds like Drake on this song.
Here is our next artist. Chosen by both Devil and JungleDisturbia!
WYNTER GORDON
Wynter Gordon is an artist who started off in R&B and drifted over to Dance. Her debut album, With the Music I Die, explores various aspects of Dance music, and doesn't restrict itself to dance-pop tunes. Yes, it does contain dance-pop ('Buy My Love' is a dance-pop track), but Wynter manages to look at dance-ballads, house music, and other subgenres of Dance on her album.
Buy My Love
JungleDisturbia:
My favourite Wynter song, it's fun, catchy, and carefree. Wynter tells her boyfriend that she has her own money and her love can't be bought, but she's not going to complain if he wants to try. She even lists things that she (and all girls) would love to receive as gifts.
Still Getting Younger
All My Life
JungleDisturbia:
An amazing dance-ballad. Wynter describes the feeling of being in love with someone to the point where they become your world. You don't want to eat, sleep, (or even dance) without them present. This song is really cute. I love it.
Love this bitch, and I'm happy she's up here! Dirty Talk was cute, but the rest of WTMID was a lovely combo of electro, pop, and a little tinge of R&B, all moulded together to make a lovely little gem of an album, from a girl who will never make it Stateside . She got some radio play in Canada for a bit, but not enough to really make an impact. Seriously guys, check her out!
Songs
Buy My Love: Don't like this one very much. The beat isn't that great, and nothing else about the song really hooks me. Why didn't you just pick Til Death?
Still Getting Younger: This song is actually the coolest **** ever. It sounds like a retro little disco-gem that Goldfrapp would've recorded if Wynter didn't. Love it
All My Life: Wynter's smash hit in waiting. If she released this, it'd get huge. It's the perfect amount of dance and pop, together in harmony!
Back to You is my **** though, that is one of the best mid-tempos I've heard in a while!
So underrated!!! I've been a Wynter fan for 2 years already. With The Music I Die is one of my favorite albums released last year. Can't wait for the upcoming mixtape! <3
She has a lot of unreleased gems too.
Still Getting Younger's my fave song from WTMID. The bridge gives me so much life.
I absolutely love Wynter! She was #1 on my 2011 year-end album list and my friends are starting to get into Buy My Love and Toyfriend! Could 2012 finally be her year?
I'll participate later and figure out an artist to submit.

Some may say that they don't like the transition from r&b to dance but I love it. Her voice soars over these tracks and fits perfectly and I support her either way. With The Music I Die is a great EP that grew on me and made me more of a fan of even the current mainstream pop music. There’s no way I could say I hate ex. We Found Love and then turn around a bump to WTMID, which is better btw.
Buy My Love – Originally one of my favorites but soon became overplayed. It’s a typical materialistic track but its fun and the best part of the track that as cheesy as the beat (esp. the xylophone instrument) is it makes the song sound all lovely dovey.
Still Getting Younger – 2011’s ABBA - Dancing Queen teas? Yes. It’s such a feel good summer song. You just want to run wild and free.
All My Life – Verse start off soft mellow but then the chorus kicks and things get loud and energenic.
Buy My Love not a huge fan of this track. The beat sounds cheap and the hook is not very memorable.
Still Getting Younger is my favorite track of the three. I love the 80s vibe from the track, and the lyrics are cute.
All My Life sounds like a Robyn reject, to be honest. That's much better than being a rejected track from any other pop singer, but it's still not an A-List caliber song.
