The naysayers and true fans of Beyonce alike were shocked when it was announced that sales of B-Day were estimated to be in the 540K range. Previously, it had seemed that first week sales would be a little lower due to some backlash and an underperforming first single.

Beyonce has week one cleared, but will this week be it? People have also pointed that Mary J Blige's Breakthrough sold about 700,000 its first week, but has only sold about 2.5 million to date. So will B-Day have longevity?

Still, Mary J's album is a flop in no means. Her 1st single was big on urban and pop radio and her second single had fair play on pop radio and was a huge succes on urban... her 3rd single is shaping to do the same as her 2nd and is propelling her album closer toward the top. I can see her album going 3-4 million by the time its done which is huge especially in an era where most download.

Moving on to Beyonce, I DEFINITELY think she will have longevity. I say this because after "Ring The Alarm," she will be releasing the best song on the album, "Irreplacable," which might arguably be one of the best songs she's recorded as a solo artist. I think that single will keep her album alive. The 3rd single will be embraced by both urban and pop radio and will be HUGE. She will be fine with this album.

With 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6th single coming up and Dreamgirls, the tour and a rerelease, she will definitely have longevity.

Beyonce's B'DAY doesn't seem like it'll be a consistent seller. It's not because it dropped significantly in sales this week, here in the states. It has to do with the quality and appeal of the album.

B'DAY is an Urban album drenched in hot beats and senseless lyrics. Albums like those don't sell over a long period of time. I have my share of enjoyable tracks to listen to but it won't be long until these dance floor fillers get old. Most of the tracks on the album are for the moment and part of a current (as well as fading) trend. This isn't the timeless album Beyonce proclaimed it to be before even going into the studio.

Beyonce is a crossover artist who relies heavily on the pop market. It's the pop radio listeners who keep the album alive by buying it over a long period of time. Unfortunately, this album is not tailored for pop music lovers. Again, it's an Urban album. Because of this, her sales will suffer.

On international sales: It's no mystery that Beyonce has pretty much tanked outside of the U.S. But that doesn't mean the rest of the world isn't accounted for when determining one's level of success. It's unfair that many are going around saying "America is the only market that matters." That's just foolish and ignorant. Beyonce's DIL sold 4 Million in the states but sold 9 Million altogether (or 11 Million according to those who love to believe inflated sales) when contributing the 5 Million albums sold outside of America, the great. The fact that B'DAY is failing to do well internationally is obviously evidence that her current material isn't as appealing as it was the first time around and that her career may be in danger.

Anyway, yeah when that poster say that worldwide sales does not matter is the biggest crock of bull I ever read. I KNOW that if she was selling like hotcakes internationally then they will be singing a completely different tune. More like "The world loves Beyonce!"

Irreplaceable is the highlight of the album but it does not outweight its faults by a long shot, at least IMO. But hey, there's still the movie to look forward to.

The album is definitely not full of club songs with no meaning. The majority of critics aren't wrong. Sure, there are some meaningless songs, but she's not going to sit down and write a Pieces of You. That's not Beyonce. She's tried to write about serious topics and it doesn't work (Story of Beauty). For what the songs are about, the lyrics are actually well written and this is easily her best work. Maybe it's not as mainstream as it could be, but I recall Beyonce saying she doesn't even want to sell well with this album. Her career won't be in danger regardless of what happens after this. It's past flop territory already, and Dreamgirls is almost certain to get her mass exposure. She'll still be remembered when her next album comes out and she's still going to have a long career. Her voice can't go to waste.

Worldwide: Her album will not do well due to Europe being brainwashed to think that Pop is the only music alive. The album is too "urban". Irreplaceable is the next European single and that might bring in a boost to sales.

USA: Thank you sir. Irreplaceable has been called her "We Belong Together" and if it is then this album is a complete success. Like I said in my review, I'm ready for Dreamgirls and My Story.
