Well, she did have TOTGA. While it wasnt necessarily slow, it was still not a party/happy song

The only difference between The One and Wide Awake is that one is bitching about an Ex being **** and the other is bitching about an ex not wanting her anymore.
It's just the production of TOTGA still has a happy feel to it as opposed to the production of Wide Awake.
The One That Got Away happy feeling?! o.O It's one of the few songs that have ever made me shed a tear, it's so depressing to me. The production and her voice sounds so hopeful that they could possibly pull the relationship back together, but at the same time it's clear to the listener, and Katy later in the song, that it's hopeless - they will never be a happy couple again.

Heartbreaking.
Wide Awake didn't even make me a little sad.
If you listen to just the music, at a surface level, it sounds happy. Of course her vocals sounds exactly how you have said, but to the person listening to the radio in the background on the ride home it sounds happy. Wide Awake doesn't have that feel to it.
Katy has to release Dressin' Up next, the public wants to see Katy back to her happy horny self first, then she can close the era with Wide Awake becaus i think it would be an epic finish of the era, almost like she is finally waking up from her teenage dream, hense "wide awake"
But who says Wide Awake is about her ex? You only assume that because of the divorce, but the song could be about her life and how she realizes there's more than just partying and having fun (like the whole TD era was about).
