Bon Iver, performing “Skinny Love”
Sad and beautiful. Nice vocal performance, and I like the strumming.
6
Pavement, performing “Cut Your Hair”
Very smart lyrics with a great melody. Slightly forgettable.
3
Robyn, performing “Dancing on My Own”
Absolutely perfect.
10
The Dixie Chicks, performing “Not Ready to Make Nice"
Great song, and the perfect way to handle the controversy surrounding them at the time.
7
Arcade Fire, performing “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)”
Inspiring lyrics with a very majestic feel overall.
8
Cher Lloyd, performing “With Ur Love” (featuring Mike Posner)
Very catchy song, though that feature is just awful. Miles better than “Swagger Jagger.”
4
Sophie Ellis-Bextor, performing “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)” [with Spiller]
I don’t really get the hype for this one. Everything but the beat is average.
1
Carrie Underwood, performing “Before He Cheats”
Still a good song. The lyrics have lost some of their novelty five years later, but her vocal performance is impressive.
5
The Strokes, performing “Hard to Explain”
That riff alone ***** on most music released in the last decade.
9
Girls Aloud, performing “Untouchable”
I guess it’s nice, though I can’t say it really did anything for me. It goes on for too long at the end.
2
That was extremely tough. Numbers 6 through 9 in particular are pretty much interchangeable.
Now I just have Week 9 tomorrow, Week 10 by Saturday, and then I'm all caught up.
