I heard this show was amazing but never got past the first 2 episodes. It didn't do much for me, but everyone else has nothing but great things to say about it; can someone tell me if it's worth continuing?

Yes. Yes it is. It takes a while - especially that first season - but don't give up.
I didn't sleep last night because I had boatloads of work to do but still wanted to watch this. I'm so excited for where this season will go. It's looking like it will be an exciting year for the girls and Pete. And hopefully a
token black character

Last night, AMC debuted season five of “Mad Men” with a two-hour premiere, which resulted in record ratings making it the most watched episode ever from the series. From 9pm-11pm EST, the network attracted a 2.5 HH rating delivering 3.5 million viewers. This marks a +21% growth from season four’s premiere. Among the core demo of Adults 25-54, “Mad Men” delivered 1.7 million marking an increase of +17% versus the season four premiere. “Mad Men” airs on AMC Sunday nights at 10pm ET/PT.
Everything was so lavish for the premiere, musical sequence included. The level of cinematography has noticeably been raised. I hope the level of production will remain like this, because there were some beautiful shots in the premiere episode, like Megan on the balcony.
