I sure jinxed that, didn't I?
yes it did leak(still, a week before release is very impressive for a major label album), and it's everything I wanted and more.
I didn't listen to the advance leak as a way to support Lupe, so most of these songs were new to me.
the production on it is 5 stars. whether it be by big names (Kanye West, the Neptunes) or unknowns(Soundtrak), it's very cohesive. it doesn't seem like a bunch of random beats together. they all fit the overall theme of the album.
also Lupe is a phenomenal story teller. just closing your eyes to most of these songs, and it's better than most movies that have come out this year.
best song on the album from a couple of listens has to be "The Cool". produced by Kanye West, it's something unlike Kanye has ever done outside of his solo work. Lupe also rips the **** out of it.
really every song is ****in amazing that my fav song will prob change on a daily basis.
the only disappointments I have with the album is that the version of "Kick Push II" has this new beat. it damn near ruins the song. the original beat for it(produced by Usher's little brother oddly) was a perfect fit for the song, and gave the song a dark feel.
also the Outro has no songs from the leak like I suspected. It is instead him shouting out people for 12 minutes over a beat. It is a great outro, just disappointed that there weren't any songs.
overall, if you love real hip-hop, there is no reason why you shouldn't get this.
FNF UP! Lupe did me proud. not that I ever doubted his dopeness.
