Loose and
Blackout are clearly different albums. Same for
Futuresex/Lovesound though I can see similarities between "SexyBack" and "Gimme More" (which is still grittier and darker).
Blackout put its own spin on the electro-pop movement with songs such as "Piece Of Me", "Heaven On Earth", "Why Should I Be Sad","Freakshow", "Hot As Ice"... The mood was harsher and more electric, with influences from Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder and 90s Eurodance (the genre that would be later on "revived" on the Hot 100). Maybe I'm a bit naive but I always see this album as Danja's answer to the Timbaland Factory. What kind of album would the disciple made without his handler?
We've already had these conversations, and it seems it's always the same type of people who are eager to doubt that Britney's albums are always ahead of the curve even if their influences can easily be spotted in the evolution of the pop landscape.
I've already made several essays about them so you can just check my post history, if you're interested.
Anyway, to answer the poll, except "Bird Of Preys" and "Elastic Love", I fail to see the risks taken by Christina... At least, the dubstep influenced
FF led the way in its field ( as seen with Rihanna, Madonna, Chris Brown...). I'm not saying it wouldn't have taken on its own without her (yes, I can't predict these kind of events) but she was the first to have a record breaking no1 song with that particular sound!
Wow, I don't even remember what I wanted to say. Yes, I don't think you can 100 % attribute the dubstep trend to Britney but saying the poster girl for pop music, after Madonna, had no influences AT ALL is just as ridiculous.
PS/ And I see someone trying to give the credit to the producers. Well, it doesn't work that way in the real world. If a normal person hear a song that sounds like "Tik Tok", he's not gonna say "What a lessor song, it's a Dr Luke ripoff" but "Hey, this sounds like Ke$ha!". Just like everyone dragged Christina to hell and back, not the producers, when "Not Myself Tonight" was premiered. Once you get hold of a song, you're gonna benefit of suffer from it so be very careful!
