I haven't listened to the full FTR album, but my theory is that it won the ACM for best country album to help it look extra special to Grammy voters. Plus it's selling well, and I believe it was well reviewed.

UAN, TTT and RR obviously won't take AOTY nominations, but they could still get category noms. Not likely though.
