because Beyonce is the top black female artist of this time, no matter what her status on the charts is, that's how it is and will always be.
No1 would of said that about Brandy because she wasn't as adored as Aaliyah (no offense but it's true, even though Brandy was adored also, but not on the same level) Aaliyah had "it" there's no denying it. People compare her to Beyonce because before Beyonce Aaliyah was the quintessential young beautiful r&b artist. After she died no1 filled that void until Beyonce left Destiny's Child to go solo.
Brandy had already reached her peak, Aaliyah still didn't get to her prime, and that is why people still have the "coulda, shoulda, woulda" conversations because it hits a personal chord.
