And I don't know why people act like the only reason Beyoncé is popular/successful is because Aaliyah died. Female R&B artists can co-exist. I mean, Brandy, Monica, Aaliyah + co. didn't bump eachother out of the game back in the day. Anyway, I always felt like Aaliyah's career would have went in a similar direction. It was clear that she enjoyed making movies, so I think that she would have quit releasing albums in the early 2000s and released several movies.

But then again, it's really easy to guess what could have happened when somebody dies so young.

I don't think Timbaland had any aura of being a bitch. He actually said it very respectfully and said it as a compliment to Beyonce saying "on her level." He admires Beyonce and was just saying Aaliyah could be that big. He was her best friend/big brother he knew her talent and her potentia, and her weaknesses probably more than we did.

I loved Aliyah but i never thought she had that WW appeal that Bey has. There was something lacking tbh

because Beyonce is the top black female artist of this time, no matter what her status on the charts is, that's how it is and will always be.

No1 would of said that about Brandy because she wasn't as adored as Aaliyah (no offense but it's true, even though Brandy was adored also, but not on the same level) Aaliyah had "it" there's no denying it. People compare her to Beyonce because before Beyonce Aaliyah was the quintessential young beautiful r&b artist. After she died no1 filled that void until Beyonce left Destiny's Child to go solo.

Brandy had already reached her peak, Aaliyah still didn't get to her prime, and that is why people still have the "coulda, shoulda, woulda" conversations because it hits a personal chord.

oops I forgot about Ashanti.............really did but yea in terms of what Aaliyah was doing (dancing, ad campaigns, movies) Beyonce was the successor. Ashanti had a good run but it didn't last.

Aaliyah had it all.she was a great dancer,she was so god damn beautiful (literally,she was one of most beautiful black woman that ever lived ) and very talented.So I don't have any doubt in my mind that she would be HUGE in some part of the 2000's or even today.She was timbaland's muse before anyone.
it's so tragic what happened to her.so young.she had so much potential.I always almost tear up when I think about her .but she will always be the princess of R&B .without a doubt.

anyway.. nobody can compare aaliyah acting skills.. she was an actress indeed, and beyonce not, she's tried hard and nobody believes her on her roles.. sorry beehive.
you can dance over liyah's grave playing succesfull beyonce songs, but, the quality, the spirit she used to put singing with her voice, not as 'good' as beys.. that can't be compared.

two way different artists, two different careers, two different times.. there's no way on comparing those two.

Beyonce is a fusion of Diana Ross/Tina Turner, while Aaliyah was our 90's Janet with a mixture of Sade. Both very talented women.. And they were both ladies of the roc lol.

Aaliyah always re-invented herself So im sure she would have kept up with the times. And it was obvious by her 3rd album that she was leaning towards the pop market
