I guess people were really turned off by some non-existent racism in the song. That's unfortunate.
I mean, her intention may not have been explicitly racist, but Gwen's whole fetishization of Japanese culture (and especially her harem of silent, giggling Harajuku girls) is Orientalism at its finest.
Harajuku Girls is creepy, somewhat racist, and not catchy at all; not the worst song in the rate, but deserved to be in the bottom 5. Mariah's album had a lot of really boring songs, but while Joy Ride was one of them, One and Only and To the Floor were not. Those were both 8's; Joy Ride was a 6.5 and could have gone at any time. And I Hate Myself was only the fourth or fifth worst song on Breakaway, so I'm confused by all the hate it's been getting.
So basically, decent rankings so far, but not many of the absolute worst songs.
Damn Damn Damn. "Joy Ride" is one of my faves off Emancipation, I expected AT LEAST Top 35. "Too The Floor" is a bit of a filler for me, though, but "One And Only" I also wanted higher. "Harijuku Girls" could've been a bonus/B-side for LAMB too.

When the album first came out, I LOVED this track, but over time it's become one of the weaker tracks. It still holds a soft spot in my heart, but i dont mind it being out this early
