Still Rockin' The Suburbs...THE FREEWAVE!
The radio show might be suffering, but the countdowns are still kicking. On this week's edition of The FreeWave, on the Current, Tool retires another track! But #1 is not guraranteed, as Beck, Deftones, Army Of Anyone and Coheed & Cambria are right on their tail. Meanwhile, on the Others, Motorhead and Muse get another new challenger to their top positions. What are you waiting for? Go look below at the countdowns, damnit!
The FreeWave

[3] Deftones - Hole In The Earth
Two Weeks | Peak: #3 | Low: #4 | +1
[2] Beck - Nausea

Highest Point: #1(7/31; 8/28-9/4/06)
Most Repeated: #3(Four Times)
Points: 85
Notes: It shared the countdown with two of the most well performing songs on a weekly countdown that i've ever done and STILL came away with a ton of points. Barring a miracle, this song is going to make my year-end top 10. With other competition, I think "The Pot" would have done better. But hey, it still did great.
The FreeWave: Others
[10] P.O.D. - Goodbye For Now
[9] The Offspring - (Can't Get My) Head Around You
[8] Stone Sour - Through Glass
[7] Korn - Love Song
[6] Coheed & Cambria - Welcome Home

[1] Motorhead - Ace Of Spades(Six Weeks At #1)
And that's the end of that chapter. I'd like to thank Ke, Johnny, MC Steven, Randy and that mybonnie guy for doing the things you guys do. Next week, "Smiley Faces" retires on the Current and there WILL be a brand new #1! Until then, lets get a party going.

Nelly Furtado should be higher and you know it Ryan! Same goes for Gnarls.
I'll give you $5 if you at least let Lupe Fiasco almost make it on

Once again, everything except for Motörhead. Such a marvelous piece of work.
And your Others countdown is looking even better!

AFI Kasabian and Evanescence get mad big ups.
I'd suggest: Billy Talent "Red Flag".
And did you ever end up hearing my Broken Social Scene recommend?
I'm telling you, that song is all you. The Arcade Fire of this year (even though they've been cool forever now)

The FreeWave: In Spectacular Color Vision!
Welcome back, my friends, to the show that, hopefully, never ends. On this week's Current, "Smiley Faces" retires and, of course, we have a brand new #1. And hey, there's also a completely brand new #1 on the Others! What are you waiting for? Look below and find out what I have in store.
This edition of The FreeWave is done in memoriam of all of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. Rest in peace.

The All-American Rejects - It Ends Tonight
Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober
Kasabian - Empire
Pearl Jam - Gone
Slayer - Eyes Of The Insane
[10] Nelly Furtado - Say It Right
Nine Weeks | Peak: #5 | Low: #10 | -2
[9] AFI - Love Like Winter
Nine Weeks | Peak: #4 | Low: #9 | -3
[8] Lupe Fiasco - I Gotcha
Two Weeks | Peak: #8 | Low: #10 | +2
[7] Korn - Politics
Ten Weeks | Peak: #5 | Low: #9 | =
Debut: 7/17-18/06(#9)
Retirement: 9/18/06(#7)
Lowest Point: #9(7/17-18/06)
Highest Point: #5(7/24-8/7/06)
Most Repeated: #4(Four Times)
Points: 44
Notes: Part of the reason Politics didn't perform as well as, say, the usual Korn performance, is because "Politics" is one of my least favorite songs from See You On The Other Side. Yes, at first, I was bitter that "Love Song" and "Open Up" were not pegged as a single, yet "Politics" was. However, that was not a factor in the overall performance of the song on the Current. Fact of the matter is, it's not one of my favorite Korn songs and it faced stiff competition. But I still like the song and it deserved to retire.
[6] Gnarls Barkley - Gone Daddy Gone
DEBUT
[5] Thom Yorke - Black Swan
Three Weeks | Peak: #5 | Low: #10 | =
[4] Deftones - Hole In The Earth
Four Weeks | Peak: #3 | Low: #4 | -1

[2] Army Of Anyone - Goodbye
Six Weeks | Peak: #2 | Low: #10 | =
[1] Beck - Nausea
Four Weeks | Peak: #1(Two Weeks) | Low: #2 | =
The FreeWave: Others
[10] Queen - Princes Of The Universe
[9] Alice In Chains - Down In A Hole
[8] Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
[7] Johnny Cash ft. Joe Strummer - Redemption Song
[6] Lupe Fiasco - The Cool
[5] Evanescence - Lacrymosa
[4] Motorhead - Ace Of Spades(Six Weeks At #1)
[3] Muse - Starlight(Five Weeks At #1)
[2] TV On The Radio - I Was A Lover
[1] A Perfect Circle - Judith(Two Weeks At #1)
And that's the end of that chapter. I'd like to thank two of my usual suspects, Johnny and MC Steven, for hitting me with your block rockin' beats. Next week, BOTH "Love Like Winter" and "Say It Right" retire on the Current. Until then, I did it all for you.

AFI & Furt falling makes you a bad, bad person. And what kind of Korn fan are you?
Good countdown nonetheless, sans Gnarls Barkley because I kinda can't stand them anymore. WESTSIDE!

The one that doesn't like "Politics" that much.
Don't worry, both "Say It Right" and "Love Like Winter" retire on the next edition of The FreeWave so, more than likely, they're going to jump. When? Um...soon?

So let it show you, SHOW YOU.
Welcome back to the favorite countdown of the Three Tenors, the Three Stooges and the Three Libras, The FreeWave. This week on the Current, both "Say It Right" and "Love Like Winter" are to retire and Beck once again faces competition for his lovely #1 spot. On the Others, there is a brand new #1! Now is the time. A day later than usual, but still..

+44 - When Your Heart Stops Beating
The All-American Rejects - It Ends Tonight
Chris Cornell - You Know My Name

[10] Mastodon - The Wolf Is Loose
DEBUT
[9] Lupe Fiasco - I Gotcha
Three Weeks | Peak: #8 | Low: #10 | -1
[8] Nelly Furtado - Say It Right
Ten Weeks | Peak: #5 | Low: #10 | +2
Debut: 7/24/06(#7)
Retirement: 9/25/06(#8)
Lowest Point: #10(9/18/06)
Highest Point: #5(8/14/06)
Most Repeated: #8(Three Times)
Points: 34
Notes: One of the most up and down performances in recent FreeWave memory. One moment, it's poised to make a run at the top spot. The next, it's near the bottom, about ready to fall off. There's no taking away from the song itself, which is great, but the competition around it was fierce. Still, a retired song is a retired song.
[7] Thom Yorke - Black Swan
Four Weeks | Peak: #5 | Low: #10 | -2
[6] AFI - Love Like Winter
Ten Weeks | Peak: #4 | Low: #9 | +3
Debut: 7/24/06(#8)

Lowest Point: #9(9/18/06)
Highest Point: #4(7/31-8/14/06)
Most Repeated: #4 and #6(Three Times)
Points: 51
Notes: It's all about that beat, man. It's just so infectious. Hell, the most amazing thing about the beat is that goes along with the rest of the song perfectly. Awesome song and a song that you will see on my year-end personal countdown for sure.
[5] Gnarls Barkley - Gone Daddy Gone

[3] Muse - Starlight(Five Weeks At #1)
[2] A Perfect Circle - Judith(Two Weeks At #1)
[1] Green Day - Macy's Day Parade(One Week At #1)
A big thank you to those who hit me up with their comments and stuff, MC Steven, Roger and Johnald. Next week, amazingly, no retirements on the Current! However, Beck will try and hold on at the #1 position, and that's always fun...yeah. Until next week, it's really criminal.
