I have no problems with her wanting to be famous, I just don't think putting a pretentious pretext on the album is a good idea. The first way people are going to be exposed to this ''Famous'' Marina is through critics and if critics only see this as a star vehicle for her career, they will mention it. Remember Marina like you said is not really well known so in my opinion she needs to be careful. Critics may very well bring up her first album mention the departure to top 40 electropop.

Also how many new pop artists have broken out and become mega successful recently??? Just saying.

From what I've gathered from the interviews / videos / references so far, there are themes on American culture, power / control in relationships, stereotypes, women's role in society, consumerism, Greek mythology, human psychology, viewing situations in different perspectives, a lifestyle of excess, media's influences on individuals, hypocrisy, and love...

One thing that worries me about Electra is that it's too much. Like.. The average pop fan is not going to get it, then label her a 'sellout'
