Everybody loves a good ballad, and even though they have a tough time tearing up the charts these days (unless you're Adele ), I think it's a shame when an album is released and there isn't at least one or two good CRY-ERS on it!
So my fave, Kelly, is incredibly good at making these songs (not sure if that's necessarily a good thing ). We all know Because of You (from Breakaway).
But there's also Cry (from the album All I Ever Wanted)
Already Gone, Sober and even Breakaway will still get me sometimes when I'm feeling nostalgic.
But there's this one track on Kelly's third album, My December, that absolutely destroys me. It's called Irvine, and apparently Kelly wrote it when she was at the lowest point in her life. She missed her family, was being overworked and had to deal with the criticisms and hate that comes from riding off a successful era (Breakaway). The song is kind of like a cry for help, and her voice sounds so delicate and vulnerable, it's heartbreaking.
Irvine
It could be the rawest, saddest thing I've ever heard. It's like SAD sad. It's like, lie-on-the-floor-in-fetus-position sad . When I listen to it, all I want to do is cry, but I'm just too sad to do it...
What about your faves? Can their music make you cry? Which songs are the most meaningful, and is there a background of how they were written? Share them, I'm looking for some new music They don't necessarily have to be ballads!
Post the tracks, explain the song's meaning, and let the waterworks begin!
Yes his songs E Fuori è Buio and La Paura Che have made me cry at least once. And I'm generally not a very emotional person. But it's the combination of his voice, his life, and his lyrics.
Whoa, she's fighting back the tears herself. Props for emoting so well
I didn't cry but my heart broke for her when I first saw that performance. 'Petals' is a very personal song for Mariah, her sister is a drug addict and she also references her troubled relationship she had with Tommy Mottola who abused her.
