If people are willing to pay between 50 and 350+$ for a ticket, there's MORE than one chance that they're going to buy the new Madonna album. Those people are generally true fans who would have buy the album anyway.
"get the album for free" was a marketing strategy to make it more easy-going for the costumers. People still payed for those copies.
In days when 'piracy' is said to be 'damaging' the music industry, these strategies are the way to go. Many indie artists do it with packages and bundles of merchandise, tickets and music and they get more income than they regularly would.
How easily you forget- Gaga hit a million the first week. Also Billboard is very hypocritical for justifying this end run around their rules. Billboard should stop talking - the more they talk the more idiotic they sound. If Madonna drops 85% that's around 45000-55000.
