lol, I love to explain this: "Easy Breezy" was an excellent choice for a first single in the United States. In order to sell, you need sex appeal, as offered by the video and something catchy, which "Easy Breezy" was. "Exodus '04" would have been a great 2nd choice, followed by a dance remix of "Devil Inside." Her career was miserable in the United States because of a lack of PR. She was literally on MTV on the "You Hear It First" and on CNN one week night at like midnight when noone was paying attention. Did it even have a Pre-RL on TRL?
@ Rayato, "Exodus" missed the point because the album was too "dancy." "Easy Breezy" was really one of the only candidates valid for mainstream radio. Timbaland's other two tracks, "Wonder Bout" and "Let Me Give You My Love" where the other two, which happen to be the weaker tracks on the album. "Kremlin Dusk" would have been amazing, but it isn't mainstream at all...

Anyways, Utada is notorious for writing her songs in English, then translating them to Japanese, so there is no way her translation/transition would have been faulty.
