What type of assumption is that? You do realise 200k is still, at the end of the day, a
great first week of sales in the US? Factor in the international success of the album, and it will be one of the best-selling "hip-hop/rap" albums of the year.
Moving forward, Cash Money should (and probably will) do the following:
1. Properly promote the urban half of the album through a string of urban singles. Beez in the Trap is a good move. This will give the album legs with urban audiences. Have Nicki appear on various shows to promote them.
2. Get the pop promo train going. At the end of the day, the pop tracks are stronger than most other pop songs out there, and there are four/five amazing pop singles to be had from the album. Release them all - not necessarily in the US, but internationally, e.g. almost all of Nicki's UK sales are due to her pop songs. She can become bigger than Rihanna in the UK, and that's only through pop singles. These always lead to album sales.
3. Tour = promo = album sales. Nicki already said this a few weeks back, and I think yesterday as well: whilst she's touring, she will be doing local promo at each location, and this will give the album legs too. e.g. going back to the UK market, almost guaranteed that when Nicki comes does her UK tour in June/July, the album's sales will surge, especially as every TV shows will want to book her for live performances and interviews. So we have all that to look forward to!
Even though first-week US sales are disappointing, fairly confident she'll get 3M+ sales worldwide. Just probably not the 2M we hoped from the U.S.
