People turned on Madonna quite early? By Madge's third era (True Blue) she was HUGE, Gaga's Born This Way was big but this is only her second era and was a kinda big sophomore slump from TF/TFM...
You call having the second-best belling album of the year, a third AOTY nom in a row, and four Top 10 singles a sophomore slump?
People tend to forget that Gaga's actually really smart. She knows the industry. The BTW era may have been experimental but god knows what's in store for this next era. We have to wait and see, we can't just assume she's peaked.
She has peaked and who says you have to reach that level of success to have a good era. She can still bring it hard but that is up to her its about the music she makes and how she markets herself. But she can definitely have a huge era again
For everyone screaming "OMG!!!!1111!!! NO WAYYYYY SHE'S PEAKT!!1", what do you think everyone said about Mariah before Emancipation of Mimi? Pop girls can come exploding back onto the scene, so don't put anything past her. Gaga still has a massive fan base.
This. Plus if she makes music the GP can connect with she has even more added support.
I think a lot of you underestimate the power she still has.
I think she can attain the success again with the right musical direction it has happened before with Mariah Carey, Everyone thought she peaked in the '90s then "We Belong Together" happened in 2005
Oh look, another uninspired thread by Vin about someone Vin supposedly dislikes. I don't get why you always need outside validation in order to feel good about yourself or your opinions.
"The Fame Monster" put her on the map and opened the world to who Lady Gaga was. It is impossible for that to happen again because she is already on the map and the world already knows who she is. You cannot repeat something that only happened largely because you were a new act at the time. Gaga will continue with her success and she will continue to sell tickets, singles, albums, and win awards, and you will continue to punch yourself and seeth because you cannot stand to watch someone you hate so much slay so hard.
I do think it is possible. It will take a lot of work. She will really have to do something special to impress everyone.
She's probably in one of the greatest high-risk situations among female Pop stars. She skyrocketed to the top and she gained a lot of respect along the way. Now people expect a lot from her, perhaps more than they do of most current Pop stars.
Her work ethic and enthusiasm has been extremely rewarding for her, but it's also made it so that she can never really drop the ball.
If Mimi can smash after glitter/charmbracelet (no shade, i'm just talking in terms of singles/sales), Gaga will have no problem smashing after Born This Way.

Why is it so important though? Last time I check, ALL of the biggest female pop stars nowadays (except Adele) could not match what Gaga has achieved this early in her career.
The real question is... can she top Bad Romance and make an even better and more iconic track and music video? Doesn't sound possible but can't be so sure.
