what do you guyz think ?
some people think she's having the worst coming back album ever imaginable.
"weekend" --> "call on me " --> "so excited" --> "enjoy"
imo, janet's not over but she's becoming since the album "all for you" an average r&b singer.
she's not making music that mark history à la "miss you much", "nasty" , "what have u done for me lately" , "escapade", "got til it's gone " , "if" , "that's the way love goes" etc etc etc
even her videos look so ..... too much and non sense.
she used to be so iconic because her material PLUS the message she was giving withing each album was so strong (control, rhythm nation, janet, the velvet rope => with just 4 albums she's made hsitory) .
"all for you" , "damita jo" and teh soon to come "20 Y.O" aren't good material compared to the old stuff she was doing. plsu there's no main theme to those albums. And it even shows in the titles of the albums , i mean: "all for you" (what a cheap title), "damita jo" (who?) and "20 Y.O" (yo yo yo yo).... tssss
she's not in control anymore
i personally want her to flop big time so she will have to come back stronger cuz right now what she does is really CHEAP and too average for her name.

Her career isn't over but this album will do slighty betta than DJ. Like you said she needs to regain control.

seriosly move on with your life I don't know why eveybody wants to be so crtical when it comes to Janet's work especialy since half the songs are the radio and i-tunes are crap. there's nothing wrong with the works' she's been doing Damita jo was a solid rnb album maybe it had more midtemp songs than people cared for and little too bit sexual but other than there was nothing wrong with Cd , it just wasn't the popular thing to like Janet at the time . so nobody gave it a chance . now with 20 yo people are crticzing it already and we haven't even heard the album. give me a break . yes call on me was little bit dull never the lest it wasn't a good alwful song you peopl make it out to be , and so excited is hot track but lol you want to crticze her vocals . again it's a DANCE track not a damn ballad who gives a crap the it's suppose to all about the beat so people can DANCE to it. you get it.now if you have a problem with a hip hop are don't like hiphop then that's your personal problem and your oppion .
and for the people complaning about Jd controling the project or whatever. she and Jd both said that this album is a collabative effort by Janet, Jd , Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis . he's the excutive producer meaning he did alot of the writing ( him and Johant Austin to be exact) he and La Rock only produced three songs for the album call on me, so excited and this body . also as excutive prducers Janet is allowing him to speak about the project just like she did when Jimmy Jam was excutive producer he also talked about for her before she started doing promo which is exactly what Jermaine is doing .

lecritikeur i agree with your wholeheartedly. Its so sad when you seen an iconic artist like Janet stoop so low with her musical quality. Shortstuff you must have had ur ears in the freezer when listenin to Damito Jo - the album was simply pants! You have to consider that many artists are judged in comparison to their previous works and probably the state of music @ dat point. On both criteria she failed miserably. However, 'I Want You' is one of the most amazing songs ave ever heard in my life.
She needs to quite working with JD. Call On Me is not a bad song but her vocals don't suit the song and she has no chemistry with Nelly, not to talk of the vampirish video. Janet needs to get her head straight and stick with Jimmy Jam; they gave her that unique sounds.

after I listened to "Enjoy" , I'm sure her career is super-over. Not only because she's not going to sell, but because she lost her sense in everything.
She needs a good video and promotion for "So Excited", Other wise. Buh-bye.

Well then obviously you haven't heard the all for you album cause if you want to talk quality wise Damita jo is better than all for you. . There are more songs on that I like sexhibition, my baby, Island life all night, rnb junkie I also like like you don't love and least is just a little while. But like I said earlier there's nothing wrong with the album .

well obviously u're a fan
and apparently you cannot see the difference between those periods:
(contro/RN1814/design/janet/the velvet rope) |||vs||| (all for you/damitajo/20yo)
artistically speaking there is a HUGE shift.
it's better you do no NOT witness this after all, so then u won't feel depressed and sad about poor janet.
but little by little, she is destroying her iconic image and little by little she's becoming a generic average r&b singer who can dance.
if janet was still the old janet i knew, believe me, her first single would already be number one , mtv would have played her tremendously on heavy rotations, and no one would have been able to compete with her : not beyoncé, not justin, nor aguilera no one.
for example, if she came back with "miss you much", she would have set the record straigh like "bitch is really back in your face u youngsters, i'm back and i'm showing ya how it's been done"
but that's not teh case AT ALL.

true all for you and Damita jo aren't very artistic but there still dencent . Janet's artistic decline reflects the decline in music period. and in general the music in the 90"s was better for everyone from mariah to Madonna. Janet seems to be making songs that are hot at the momment for example in the late 90's and early 2000's pop music was huge so Janet all for you a very pop record and in recent years rnb and hip hop doing well on the pop charts so Janet's album have more of a urban feel to them .seriously some of the music today is pure crap and people seem to like it and support it, so unfornately if Janet had released miss you much today it would flop. but like any other artist she's trying to fit in ,and she's making music that people want today, if she stopped doing that her records might be more artistic.

Yeah both Madonna and Janet are fading to me. Except for Madonna is doing much better than Janet and her tours will always do well. Their albums are getting worse and worse. I still think that we should wait for the So Excited video though to see if Janet still has it together. At the end of the day who cares they just need to fix whatever's wrong w/ Michael and forget about those two.

on the issue of trying to fit in, you can 'fit in' but still make your music above par. Mariah tried to fit in but its fair to say she had the advantage of a stellar voice regardless of material. Christina Aguilera's music is not totally left-field; hip-hop is popular and shes been able to incorporate such old school influences popularised by Alicia Keys on songs like (Heartburn and Unbreakable). Its just about being sensible Miss Janet. The Velvet Rope is like my best album ever and am not saying I want her depressed but c'mon, step up the quality. 'All For You' was an excellent song.

Well, I'm a fan and I'd be upset if she did well with this album , because she didn't even bother to SING this time. God bless JD and his loud beats.
