Nicki sells 27k 1st day in UK, set for 1st UK #1 album
Nicki Minaj is set to debut at the top of the UK artist albums chart this Sunday as one-time Canadian Idol contestant Carly Rae Jepsen heads to number one on singles.
Minaj’s second Cash Money/Island album Pink Friday – Roman Reloaded heads a charge of four brand new albums leading the Official Charts Company’s Sales Flashes with Syco act Labrinth’s Electronic Earth currently in runner-up position, Sony’s Moshi Monsters album Music Rox third and Epic at Lostphrophets fourth with Weapon.
The Minaj album had sold nearly 27,000 copies up to the end of business on Tuesday, a lead of more than 9,000 copies over Labrinth’s debut album, with Moshi Monsters and Lostphrophets both a few further thousand sales behind. Minaj’s first album Pink Friday peaked at 16 and has sold around 280,000 copies in the UK.
