Okay, I have been in an over four year long relationship(LONG DISTANCE AND ONLINE, NO LESS!) and have actually been in love outside of the online realm for almost two years with a girl 4 1/2 years my senior and we are just as much in love as we were when we first fell in love. Socially acceptable? Maybe not, but if we love each other and care about each other, why should it matter? All that matters to me is that I love her and she loves me. Age, as has been pointed out already, is only a number and anyone who believes it isn't just a number doesn't understand.

(Though I will say that, if you're kidding, forget this ever happened. )

anyway, my mother's bf is 15 yrs. older (44-59) then her. My stepmother's ex aka my stepbrothers' father- was 10 years older at the time of divorce (and still is, lol- 48-38). So yeah, they worked out (b/c the latter lasted 10 yrs., and my mom's been dating for 3 yrs.)

HOWEVER, he might wanna wait until the girl turns 18 to date her just to be safe. You never know....

I would generally say it's a no-no to +/- 2 years difference for 18's and under and +/- 3 years between 18 and 25 year olds. That is based on physicality, mentality and practicality i.e. everyday life.

Of course there are exceptions, I'm just saying in general it is not a good idea to let love or feelings devalue the importance of everything else and what equality there would be if/when arguments occur. Above 25 I would say upto 5 years difference upto 35 and then upto 10 years difference afterwards. But, as you get older, on a one to one general level minus any possible stark differences in lifestyle, background, passions/learning, money etc the differences between ages get smaller and so the maximums would be more lenient.

Love is not enough on it's own to make a relationship work or to get through life unless you're incredibly lucky, stubborn, away from circumstances that could interfere e.g. particular society or don't fall for or be attracted to anyone else (unless you're in an open relationship).

I disagee. Because once you're 16/17 it could be a 1-2 year difference or even a few months.


I also find that stupid. If you love someone why shouldn't you be with them? Like, that there is just not a good reason.



Another thing is I'm not just saying all this for no reason. I'm 17, and my boyfriend is three years older than me. Age has never really been an issue for us and I don't think it should be. If you love the person... you realize what really matters, and so what if there is like a few years difference in age? At the end of the day - when you think about what matters... that isn't one of them.

You don't just choose who you fall in love with, you just fall in love - and you go with that. If I have learned one thing about love - it's that.

As for all of you who think "oh, it's not okay". Too ****ing bad. Because it is okay. It's not your life, it's not your relationship. If you want to throw away something that could be great than date based on age. Only go out with people in your age category. But if you choose to do that, you never know what you may be missing out on.

I meant you should be at least 18 if the person your dating is over 18. Like 23 vs. 16, no! It doesn't matter, I'm not going to meet anyone in the near future. I'm single for the rest of my life
