I have never listened to any J-Pop or K-Pop. Perhaps I am missing out...
Some of it is really overrated, but J-pop is more so like our U.S music industry and K-pops is much faster but way more generic. You could probably find some artist/songs that you could probably get into since a lot of the songs are much like U.S pop songs just in a different language? Gaga is pretty influential in those parts of the world though.
I had a phase during high school where I liked punk rock and powerpop. I still enjoy it at times though.

I always loved pop but I was raised listening to lots of R&B/Hip hop. Even though my mother listened to pop occasionally. I love all kinds of music though!
