But her album sales, her tour numbers, her influence, all of those are waning. She's not just dropping in one area. That's what I'm getting at. I know there was this moment in time where it was all about Britney, but there's been a serious shift to where it's all about Gaga. Her fashion, her controversy, her performances, her influence, everyone out now wants to match it.
I understand that still has to prove her longevity, but the way Britney and Gaga came up so abruptly is what leads me to draw this comparison. My whole position is that Gaga has taken the industry by storm like Britney did, but she has the potential to continue it far longer than Britney. The fact that the same posters who are denying her now place her in the trinity with Britney and Beyoncé, both of 10+ years career, speaks volumes to her daunting presence.

What artist do you know that continues outselling themselves a decade into their career? Michael didn't. Janet didn't. Mariah didn't. Madonna didn't. Whitney didn't.
Gaga won't.
Everyone fades over time. Sounds change. People want different things. Kids are born and generations of pop culture become "old school."
The funny thing is, Britney is sticking around through different generations.
