The next Madonna, with her continuing $400M+ tours, sure. And it shows.

at you downlplaying Britney's success. Her money doesn't only come from touring and music. She made herself a brand and built an empire. Her perfume alone sold hundreds of millions.
Who wouldn't want that??

The way the majority of the public remembers Britney isn't in a way conducive to her "crown". I heavily doubt she's remembered as a generational leader. A pioneer in 21st century pop, but nothing more.
|
If you are downgrading Britney so relentlessly, why make an open question thread in the first place.
Besides, my point stands. Britney is of different generation. She is not competing with Gaga for this generation's lead star. Stand by what you say. Don't flip flop.

That we'll have to see. The difference between her and Madonna or Michael is that they were still performing and making music above average standards clear into their late ages. Britney's only 30 and as the years go by it appears that she loses whatever power her name has left.
On the other hand, when I look at the consistently rising tour numbers of someone like Gaga, I can't help but to notice she's gonna be trouble for all the female popstars. Including the ones that came years before her like Rihanna and Britney.

Lady GaGa can barely take down Britney while she's on the downswing of her career. What makes y'all think she can outdo Britney's entire career with her prime days factored in?

... But Mariah has also been a blond at some points (on and off since 1999). Why isn't she included in the list of Britney's fellow blond threats?

No. Just simply, no. Not a chance. As you can see to the left, I'm rather biased, but I do believe that Britney has reached, and retains a level at which Gaga can only, and obviously does, hope to achieve.
Britney is, and has been for the last 13 years, a staple of popular culture. She is the It Girl. Gaga is more of a fascination, ala Lindsay Lohan or Charlie Sheen, albeit more of a controlled fascination. Nobody outside of a small group of largely vocal internet fans who are attracted by her message of equality.
Britney is really a star who has it all. She really is all that a popstar is and can be. I see Gaga more as an average musical artist who uses a gimmick to maintain popularity. I know how unpopular this opinion may be on this site, but I hold that much of the general population agrees with me, but is overshadowed by the very loud Little Monsters on the internet.
It does become evident that Gaga wants the level of fame that Britney experiences, and even to exceed this level. And I think this portrays the difference in these two women that underlies the difference in their pop culture statuses. Britney wanted nothing to do with fame, but it came to her naturally. Gaga, in turn, thrives on attention, and takes any opportunity to be noticed. It has worked for her thus far, but her antics can not last forever, and she does not possess the it factor that Britney does. This is why I believe Gaga will soon fade, and Britney will remain a mainstay in pop culture far into the future.

And you are back on Mariah being ignored on this forum. I feel your pain.

Cuz more opinions is greater than one opinion. Is it that hard to understand?
I see Britney winning the poll and I'm totally okay with that. That's what the majority agrees with...for now anyway. Polls like these serve as a marker for future comparisons. I'm strongly anticipating the results of a poll like this two more years down the road. I'll be glad to say, "I told you so."

Michael's success lasted about 15 years only. Madonna is clocking her 30th anniversary soon.
Britney is doing great 14 years into hers and very likely to remain successful.
