But to answer your question:

I don't think so. First of, it's too early to tell.
And second of all, she alienated the general public with her BTW era.
She won't be "back" unless she finds a way to successfully reinvent herself. And it's not easy. Going back to "The Fame" days won't help. Her new material will simply be compared to PF, BR etc and won't live up.
She needs to pull off "Ray of Light" to stay afloat and I don't think she could do it.

Her impact was too short-lived.

Yes, but what Gaga is doing, anyone can do. Seriously, getting a Grammy doesn't mean a damn thing. Few artist will go down in history for the winning five Grammys. Being the best selling female artist of an entire decade, though?

I would never try to belittle Gaga's meteoric rise to stardom or incredible star power... but Britney did it in her peak.

Gaga is already fading from the publics conscience to some extent. I mean Britney has outlasted so many other gurls. Gaga is no exception.

I think people forget that Gaga is at her peak right now, where Britney was in hers starting over a decade ago.

Yes, Gaga is huge right now and making a big impact on pop culture, but we can't forget Britney was making the same moves back in the day.

The thing is, Britney was making moves in music. She was starting trends not only on radio, but in videos. It's something that she still does to this day.

Gaga, on the other hand, has only left an impact based on controversy. She's had some huge hits, but so has LMFAO. Let's not compare apples to orange, but at the same time, Britney's got a lot more apples, if you know what I mean.

But what do people really remember her for? It's why I mentioned the bit about her breakdown. She left the door WIDE open after that.

With Gaga, she's generating the same amount of interest with substantial talent and all without being a pin-up. The Grammy's are just one aspect she's conquered over Britney. I can't think of anything Britney has done that Gaga hasn't.
