I'm very anti-guns, but even in my country with its strict gun control, madmen can get guns through shooting associations. Still, I feel a lot better knowing that not everyone can buy a gun on every street corner.
Also the fact that minors have such easy access makes me feel insecure about my surroundings. I've luckily never witnessed a shooting but the fact that I easily could doesn't sit right with me.
I know, as a Minnesota law at the very least, you have to be 14 and take a class to even handle a rifle, until you're over the age of 18. That being said, I own a gun, for hunting purposes only.
I do know that in some states it is VERY hard to get a concealed weapon liscense. And every state differs. Some do background checks and others don't. Like if you're a convicted felon, you obviously cannot buy a gun.
I'm not against owning a gun, but I do think that the federal government should make a straight across the board law so things are the same in every state.
I just can't fathom the idea of making a weapon illegal that people will always be able to obtain regardless of its legality. I want to know that I have the option to purchase an object that allows me to protect myself and/or hunt.
