Alright, she may not have the best voice but what other pop star challanges religion and taboo's so well? I understand new pop stars probably do it better now, but she started it in that way. Folk singers really, but she was the first pop singer which is more mainstream and powerful. I'm drunk and about to leave but she's amazing. I stoped being a fan when COADF came out. that was the most horrible thing she ever did in her career! she SHOULDNT be named the QUEEN OF POP at all! she dosent have the voice of Whitney Neither does she dances close to Shakira plus she aint as half as preaty as Britney is.

No, I can't stand her anymore at all...she is annoying, as she tries too hard to be sexy and controversial. Although, I will admit her past successes. I believe her best would be "Material Girl."

Madonna may not have a great voice but you dont need a great voice to be a great artiste. She's definitely the best performer of all time. It's her past that made her what she is. She impacted Feminism to a mainstream audience like no on else in our time.

I find that young people tend to overhype Madonna. Probably because they are unaware of the people that came before her. She did a lot of great things but she wasn't the best of all time. But I personally stopped liking her when she out of nowhere lost that New York accent and started talking British. I prefer her Material Girl phase and I'm not a fan of Ray of Light-COADF. But she is a good entertainer.

But also (as you can see in this thread), young people tend to underrate her. Of course she's entirely deriative - that's her talent! Taking/stealing things from others (usually in the underground) and passing it off as her own originality! But I digress -
Even though she does all of that, to deny her influence is absolutely disgusting. Sure, today's popstars might be more DIRECTLY influenced by Mariah/Janet (and Kylie in the UK) but to ignore the fact that Madonna really trumps them all is outright delusional.

And, not to call you out, but your number one artist is perhaps the one artist of this generation that is directly inspired by Madoo-doo. It's really evident in EVERYTHING does - right down to her stubborn belief that she's not a simple pop star, but an ARTISTE. She could only get that from one person - Madonna.

I totally understand what your saying. Most of the artists that are out today got a little of their image from somewhere.Christina is one of the few contemporary artists that I listen to. So I would see Queen, Janis, Jimi,I could go on and on as more influential as Madonna. I don't really like when the credit goes to the people that it shouldn't go to. Most of the "Greats" are unfortunately dead now. I don't think that most young people are aware of their work. They give Madonna all the credit. Which I disagree w/. I think that she should be accredited for having the ability to change her look but to say that she is the best performer of all time is pushing it.She did not pave the way. She worked w/ what she had and she pushed the limits further. She should be commended for that. But she's not the greatest. Oh yeah and added note I love Freddie Mercury just as much as I love Christina. I think that he is the best singer and performer of all time. I'm pretty sure that most young people aren't aware that it was Freddie who stole the show at LIVE AID. They would probably say Madonna.

Oh, I hope no one is saying that. But, she changed the game - think about it. In order to last today, you not only have to be a "good musician", but you also have to be able to command the stage, put on a spectacle and not get lost in it, and be able to give great (sound)clips. There's only one person who started that.

^She's not the only one who did those things though. One person I could name is Prince. Who is Underrated as hell among young people.Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to knock Madonna, I'm just trying to say that there are people who came before her and there are other people who came out around the same time as her who are/were just as if not more influential than her.

As an 18 yr old myself I cant agree with you more Pancosnic. Prince is terribly underrated. He IS a musical genius. It's just that he strayed away from mainstream- he didn't want to. I know because I read up but yeap, most people my age dont give a sh*t. Sad

Madonna is not as underrated as Prince. A lot of my classmates dont really know what she did in the past, what sort of impact a song like Papa Dont Preach had, they only know she's that woman who had a song called Die Another Day, some weird song called American Life and know recently she was wearing a purple swimming costume lol

Although I'm more into alternative music I usually defend Madonna because I think she's underrated and some people my age dont like her just because she's in her 40s- I freaking hate age discrimination! That said she does have a sizeable teenage fanbase too. Hell I think she has the largest fanbase (all countries included) for a female celeb

The hole package is awesome, that makes her the queen of pop. And she deserves it, worked hard for that.

But everybody got's his or her own opinium about that. And Freddy and Prince are also very good artist. But there will be always people who would disagree.

One likes Madonna, the other one Prince and the other one Rolling Stones.
But there are all big stars, who are huge and give great performance.
So I don't think there is just one the best and the greatest.

Prince is equal w/ Michael. Sometimes I want to put Prince first. & for a while Madonna and Janet were the same but Madonna has surpassed her. Mariah is better than Whitney. But Janis Joplin is the most influential female for me.

I know this is off topic ,but I have to take it off my chest.

I stopped being a fan since COAD came out . I'm her number one fan since the day I was born. I've supported her during the American Life era because that album had fu.ckin QUALITY . "Nothing Fails" was one of the highlights of the decade. She flopped but I supported her because that was quite the project.

COAD is pure trash. It's really embarassing. I only bought it , listened to it because of HER. But it was actually a waste of time.

B) This is the first time EVER that I get disgusted by her acts. I didn't like her outfits / choreography/ the whole theme sucked from a to Z. I hate the Disco Ball now , and Seeing Justin breaking it makes me feel better.


Madonna has to come with an ALBUM. That includes human being MUSIC & LYRICS ...oh and a lil bit of VOCALS.
