Well, it costed $260 million, and it didn't even reach 200 million in the US (yet).
I don't think it's a flop, because it got paid - almost $350 million worldwide - but I already read some articles saying the results are disappoiting and the movie flopped, and even that it won't continue. What do you think?

Yes, it is a HUGE dissapointment.

Well, only around 55% of the money made actually goes to the production companies. And considering marketing costs, it probably lost money. But once the DVD comes out, it's sales could help a little. Maybe.

Allright, check this:

-The movie has been reported to have cost various amounts. It was initially said that the production cost was $260 M, but the director claims he managed to have only spent $204 million on the whole film, while other articles have claimed that it was actually $225 mil.
-Now the DOMESTIC Box Office numbers have yet to 'par' or go past any of these^ numbers, as it currently is sitting above $190 mil. (And last I checked it was still in the box office top 20) In this sense, it commercially under-performed. (or "flopped") But at the same time, Superman was going against Pirates of the Carribean 2 during its first month out. (And that film took in $100 mil within 5 days)
-~BUT!!~ WORLDWIDE, it has taken in over $345 Million dollars, which easily pays off the film's debts and advertisment deals with some extra $$$ to whomever.
- Considering this is all so far, after a 2-3 month period, and it has yet to come out onto DVD, (Which I will be buying the Ultra-Mega-whatever edition of) I say it didn't do as great as some expected, but it managed on its own.
- Finally I'll say that this film did well with a majority of critics, and that this was the Summer movie for me. (Which I have seen 3 times so far. With one of them being from a *******-download site.) I'd absolutly think a sequal would be greatness, IF they change out the actor for Lois Lane, and do certain things better while making this film than the first time around. (Including taking out some of the "cheese" and "corn.")

^ I'm also looking forward for the DVD, it's coming out in November, right? And yeah, the fact that it was going against Pirates of the Caribbean may have hurt its run on the Box Office.
Well, hope that it'll at least be able to reach the 200 million mark in the US.

Super sized flop.

It def. isn't a flop. But Lex Luthor isn't supposed to be funny.

From the several hundred reviews I saw, many people including myself felt like the movie makers took our money in the excitement and anticipation of this new film and how it would turn out but then felt like we were played like fools and that stupid Singer who single handledly ruined the film franchise. But, basically, that initial excitement made many part with their money initially and add that to those who actually enjoyed the film hence the large amount of money made. However, I didn't think it woul have a long successful run or anything like Pirates of the Caribbean due to word of mouth and once the first and second wave of disgruntled fans saw it, they'd tell others not to bother. So after that initial rush it may have been more non-fans and just general spectators who may have seen one or two of the previous films and that's it of the total Superman franchise. But I guess we can only see properly when it does end it's run, unless it has already and we know the end figures?

So far, it's made enough money but did not get all out popularity. The actors were ok, the graphics were great but the storyline and direction (what bloody direction, what is he going to do next after that - challenge 'God', move the Earth? and how can they possibly fix the situation between his dead beat dad self, Lois and the kid - kill the other husband? Oh how original) were crazy.
