Consider it toast if Battleship flops which has another $200+ million budget.
The Battleship promotion is already way better, there's still a good 8 weeks to garner even more buzz, and that's including that fact they've been hyping it up for a while. Not only that, but the timing of John Carter's release was horrendous and the promotion campaign was seriously one of the worst I've ever experienced for such a high budget film. I don't think Battleship will flop, and even if it does, it won't be near the caliber that John Carter did.
It has Depp in a kid friendly blockbuster movie. Its not a Hunter S. Thompson kind of film.
Western isn't as popular as it used to be. Look at Cowboys And Aliens. Rango may have been a success, but it also was a cartoon, so it's not necessarily under the same conditions.
