BOTB Take Five Week 7: I Am the Best Army of Only Girls
Don't worry - you can still vote in last week's edition. Heaven knows I'm going to! This week we seem to have a lot of girls. Only girls, some girls, girls that are fancy, girls that are the best ... and girls going through a divorce or two. But, none of those girls happen to be the problem of one Sean Carter.
2NE1, performing I Am the Best
Annie, performing Heartbeat
Bjork, performing Army of Me
Jay-Z, performing 99 Problems
Linkin Park, performing Shadow of the Day
Rachel Stevens, performing Some Girls
Reba McEntire, performing Fancy
Rihanna, performing Only Girl (in the World)
Uffie, performing Robot Oeuf
Liz Phair, performing Divorce Song
You know what to do. Listen to all ten songs, COMMENT on them and rank them. 10 is your favorite song, 1 is your least favorite. Let's do this!!

10. Heartbeat - One of the best Pop songs of all time.
9. Army of Me - I love Björk, and this is probably her at her most accesible, but also at her most bad-ass.
8. 99 Problems - One of the best rap songs of the 2000's.
7. Fancy - Never heard before, but I am loving the lyrics
6. Divorce Song - Haven't heard this before either.... I really should check out more of her stuff.
5. Robot Ouef - One of Uffie's better songs.
4. I Am the Best - Hm, it's good but not great
3. Some Girls - Better than I thought it would be, but yeah its not very good.
2. Shadow of the Day - I expected gross pre-teen boy pandering, but I just got boring.
1. Only Girl - This song is grossly produced and sung.

10. I Am The Best / 2NE1 / The quirkiness of the beat, vocals, and easily memorable "naega jeil jal naga" line is the reason as to why this Korean pop song has gone viral and is pretty much one of the few songs which introduce people into the genre (which is why this is on the top of my list). I may seem bias on this one, but this song sealed the deal for my stanship with this group.
9. 99 Problems / Jay-Z / One of the best rap songs, as mentioned above.
8. Army of Me / Bjork / The way the soft vocals are executed on top of a intriguingly edgy beat makes this song easily captivating.
7. Fancy / Reba / I really like what kind of story the song tells.
6. Robot Ouef / Uffie / I like the instrumental.
5. Heartbeat / Annie / I like the lyrics, relaxing song.
4. Divorce Song / Liz Phair / Okay lyrics, but I can't really relate to the song myself, so maybe that's my own problem.
3. Some Girls / Rachel Stevens / Kind of boring.
2. Shadow of the Day / Linkin Park / They've had better. I really did consider turning it off halfway through.
1. Only Girl / Rihanna / Nothing really special about this song. Catchy nonetheless though.

"Only Girl"? It's like the voters wanted Rihanna to get eliminated in the first round.

8. Rachel Stevens (I loved this, so simple and so great)
7. Annie (this one is also amazing, I gotta check her stuff)
6. Uffie (the lyrics are , but the beat is )
5. Björk (I didn't enjoy the song that much, but the video made me listen to it til the end)
4. Reba McEntire (I don't enjoy country, but the lyrics are good)
3. Jay-Z (IDK why this is so low TBH, I've had many surprises)
2. Rihanna (def. a bad choice)
1. Liz Phair (I didn't like it that much)

What's crazy is that her top four this game is the best she's ever had.
If she'll make it far enough to get to her second (much better) choice is the question.

I remember when I was in the dark and hated Girls Aloud with a passion, but one day "Something Kinda Oooh" came across and I saw the light. Next week will be more fun for sure. I will this week's assignment soon enough.

10. 99 Problems
Prolly one of the greatest songs in existence.
9. Only Girl
Love Rihanna & this song is no exception. First time I heard it, I was going crazy. It won best dance song at the Grammy's for a reason
8. Shadow of the Day
Love when the lead singer can just sing like this, instead of just having to have a crazy pumping rock song.
7. Robot Ouef
Well damn, Never heard this before but this **** snapped. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be from the beginning, but it's definitely one of the better songs on the list.
6. Some Girls
Actually better than I thought it would be :O I kinda enjoyed it.
5. Heartbeat
It was alright. Didn't enjoy it all too much. Kinda sounded a little over the limit, but it was listenable.
4. I Am the Best
Not a fan of KPop. This song is decent, but def. not that great.
3. Army of Me
Some Bjork songs are okay, but this song really isn't. It's just all over the place for me, and i was confused... and not in a good way.
2. Fancy
What the actual ****? There's a reason I hate country, but 90s country is just too much too handle. I was laughin my ass off throughout the entire song XD
1. Divorce Song
What the hell? Is this pop country rock? Sounds like complete trash IMO, and I'm just being nice

It will be interesting to see what is more popular this week - that or Some Girls. The two have always been connected in my mind, for reasons I'll explain in my rankings ...
... and thanks madonnas for getting Divorce Song. Hopefully more people will follow your lead.

No problem, I'm actually a huge fan of more "alt rock" (or whatever you want to call them) females, I have heard her name being recommended to me before.

10, Annie - Heartbeat
Annie has had some of the best pop songs ever written and this is probably the best of her craft.
9, Uffie - Robot Oeuf
The word salad lyrics may come across as strange, but that's simply the charm. Uffie exemplifies the "Party Girl" trope exceptionally well in this song.
8, Jay-Z - 99 Problems
The line, "I got a 99 problems but a bitch ain't one!" is one of the most iconic lines in music history.
7, Bjork - Army of Me
One of Bjork's more direct songs. It's nice to hear her get her point across.
6, Rachel Stevens - Some Girls
It's a really good song, but I do prefer some other Rachel songs much more.
5, Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World)
One of the best songs Rihanna is ever doing. FACT.
4, Liz Phair - Divorce Song
I've never really cared for Liz but this song is fairly genious.
3, Reba McEntire - Fancy
Kind of the same thing as Rachel Stevens. Nice songs, but there are much better.
2 2NE1 - I Am The Best
I hate them with a burning passion but the hook is pretty cute.
1, Linkin Park - Shadow of the Day
I have NEVER liked Linkin Park and this week is no different.

So we're just pretending "Fire Bomb" never happened now?
And this is why Rihanna is not making it out of the first round alive.

10 Linkin Park - Shadow of the Day
The chorus of this song is just plain beautiful. I actually feel the emotion in this song and that's what makes it incredible for me.
9 Bjork - Army of Me
Just Bjork being Bjork. The chorus of this track is nice as well as the production. This track has a very surreal feel to it. Beautiful.
8 Jay-Z - 99 Problems
The lyrics are good, and the flow is nice. The production is also great.
7 2NE1 - I Am the Best
When I first saw the group, I rolled my eyes and thought "Another one of those J/K-Pop groups that all sound the same". But right when I pressed play on the Youtube video I was drawn in and intrigued within seconds. I really like the beat of this song as well as the flow of the lyrics. A pleasant surprise honestly, great job 2NE1 for being one of the first J/K-Pop groups that are actually bearable. Nice.
6 Rihanna - Only Girl (In the World)
This has always been one of my favorite Rihanna tracks. Great chorus, great beat, great build-up, and a great bridge and climax. Electro heaven. So much better than "We Found Love".
5 Uffie - Robot Oeuf
The production on this is insane, but the lyrics and vocals are just average. I never really got completely bored or tired of the song though. Interesting.
4 Reba McEntire - Fancy
Wow, I usually hate country songs, but this is nice. Great cover of the original.
3 Annie - Heartbeat
This is interesting. I love the chorus and the flow of the verses. However, the song falls short in length and in having a good bridge or climax to the final chorus. It's a solid electro song, but doesn't seem to go anywhere above that.
2 Rachel Stevens - Some Girls
The chorus is the only interesting part of this.
1 Liz Phair - Divorce Song
I'm sorry, but no.
