The Hunger Games leading lady Jennifer Lawrence has revealed fans of Suzanne Collins' hit novels thought she was "too fat, too pretty and too blonde" to play heroine Katniss Everdeen.

During an interview with The Sun, Lawrence confessed that she had to endure months of training to transform herself into Everdeen after she was heavily criticised when landing the role.

The 21-year old explained: "I didn't know until the interviewers told me that all the fans were p****d because I was blonde. Then I was like, 'What? Damn, I'll just dye my hair'.

Speaking of her training, Lawrence continued: "It was intense. I had training about three times a day for a few months. Then, once we started working, I had to have the training just for endurance because it was so many hours.

"I mean, if there's a scene of me running up a mountain, that's what we shot all day – me running up a mountain. I had about six weeks of archery. It was brand new to me and I loved it. I think I'm good at shooting arrows now — and I can skin a squirrel!"

Jennifer - who is currently dating British actor Nicholas Hoult - continued: "It was great to lose weight because it was unintentional. I didn't go to the gym once. It was just a really physical movie.

"I actually ate more on that movie than I ever have on any other because it was non-stop and physical and I needed energy. It happened very naturally with all the training. It was hard to keep weight on for continuity."

It seems all of Lawrence's work has paid off after The Hunger Games took a whopping $155million at the US box office in its opening weekend, making it the third biggest total ever behind Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and Batman: The Dark Knight.

The race drama was around Rue, people expected a little white girl when she was always to be coloured as most people from District 11 were.

Her father was told to look like her and have similar skin tone which made alot of people assume she was biracial. There was major drama about that even before Jennifer was cast because the casting call only looked for white girls and not any girl from another race. And don't even get me started about the racist piece of ***** going off about Rue.

Her father may have been a little more tan looking but he was not black or there would have been some sign of it on Prim. They could not have had a black girl playing Katniss with the description of her Mother and Prim, it would not have worked. It's nothing to do with racism. The stuff being said about Rue is disgusting but Katniss' race is not important, as I said in my previous post she played the part perfectly so physically should take a back seat to that and the casting director made a great choice.
