I first discovered M 2 years ago when I came home after school and footage from her Drowned World tour was being aired on TV.
I then began reading up on the stuff she'd done, her music and her performances. Kinda different from the music I normally listen to- rock (although I heard her next CD will be rock!:P)
After watching Truth or Dare and I'm Gonna Tell You A Secret and following her interviews, I've learnt a lot from Madonna.

She's made me a lot more independent, a lot more fearless, and she thought me that "the one thing you wont regret is to be nice to people around you". That's true.. I become less rash.

And her career is like one real Cinderalla story. It's just too interesting!

I became a fan in 87

I'm becoming more and more intrigued by the legend of Madonna. I bought CODF and its a GREAT album, one of the best of 2005. She captured a total night out at the clubs PERFECTLY. Don't know if I'm a fan cuz I disagree with alot of things she's done but I truly have respect and admiration for her. I'll be diggin into her body of work so I can fully understand people's fascination with the woman.

I think Christina is the most like her out of all the pop stars. They both continue to re-invent themselves and do it WELL!!

For me, I was born at the tail end of the 80s. When I was around 5 I remembered my sis playing songs like Oh Father, Express Yourself and Something To Remember (stuff from Like A Prayer and I'm Breathless). The brought back a lot of memories when I heard them recently.

But I really started digging Madonna when I was 12, around 2000. I was more into Alternative and New Age and the only mainstream artiste I liked was U2 but Madonna sure got me hooked.

I think I liked her for all she did for Feminism and that she probably changed the way people around the world look at things. It's like she was the first mainstream person to say "look, I'm a woman and I've got more balls don't you so don't **** with me" and as a performer and an artiste she's good too.

I liked Music because it was innovative. Instead of working with some tried and tested producer, she worked with an unknown DJ and together they created a unique sound. She normally has a different sound for every different album (except in recent years) and I kinda like that variety I guess

Well I discovered her the day I was born. My oldest sister has loved her since 1983, when my family lived in Astoria, Queens; around the release of Madonna's second single, "Burning Up"/"Physical Attraction." These two girls approached my sister while she was walking to school and told her that she looked like Madonna. She's been a fan ever since lol.

My whole family (including my parents) has an immense respect for the woman. I've recently delved into her artistry to find out what she's all about. My sister owned her entire album collection but the majority of it was on cassette. So I decided to start my own collection. My first purchase was "The Immaculate Collection." Of course I knew pretty much every track even though I didn't originally like alot of them (lol) but I grew to like every track and how different she was from her musical peers. Not only was she original but she had writing & producing credits on almost every song.

I then proceeded to purchase her self-titled debut, which I found to be a flawless album that was made to get people going in the clubs in the early 80's. Notable non-singles: There's only two that weren't singles and they are "Think Of Me" & "I Know It."

"Like A Virgin" followed. I wasn't too fond of this album originally because it came off as your typical pop album of the mid-80's but I eventually accepted the fact that that she had to breakthrough some how and besides that, they're were several original tracks on the album. Aside from one of the most overplayed tracks of all time (the title track), it was definitely an above average album. Notable Non-singles: Pretender, her first ballad and her take on Rose Royce's Love Don't Live Here Anymore, and Stay.

A few months later (Jan '05), I purchased "True Blue." This was easily the best Madonna purchase I made yet. It was one of the 10 PERFECT pop albums I've ever heard (others include "Thrillers","She's So Unusual",etc.). One of the greatest pop/dance songs is featured on this album, "Open Your Heart." The awesome production and the strong, yet, simple lyrics can win any listener over. The album still stands up against many albums today, IMO. Notable Non-singles: White Heat (so freaking good), Where's The Party, Jimmy Jimmy, & Love Makes The World Go Round. Well that's all of them lol.

Since "True Blue", I've purchased COADF and I've listened to Bedtime Stories (a VERY solid album, btw). I do intend on buying other Madonna efforts in the very near future but I just took a little break to delve into other artistries, hehe.

wow!!! all her albums are platinum or more (15 platinum and 2 diamonds!!!)

For me, my parents are conservative Catholics that didn't think too well of Madonna. My eldest sis loved her though and she actually looks a lot like Madonna! She has that little gap between her two front teeth. And her mannerisms are a lot like Madonna too

She reminds me of Madonna in Truth or Dare. That movie and I'm Gonna Tell You A Secret are must-sees.. they're absolutely brilliant

My sis had Like A Prayer, I'm Breathless, The Immaculate Collection, Erotica and Ray of Light. All the earlier stuff was on casette and RoL was on CD. I've since bought all her albums and a lot of her maxi-singles. I got all her stuff after completing my U2 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers collection :P
