That's not even a valid comparison. The word "continent" can mean "large land mass" or "large land mass separated by ocean" or something different. The definition of what a continent is is not clear and it depends on how your culture interprets it. It's nothing like 2+2.

If the definition of a continent is supposed to be a large landmass surrounded by water (with the difference between continents and Islands being just size), then can you , oh wise one, please explain to the class why North and South America, which are linked by land, count as two seperate continents? Or why Europe should be seperated from Asia?
